yeah, it's somewhat a "hidden" treasure. No idea why they are not often mentioned or used in comparisons and such. The servers are great, the pricing is great and the UI is really nice.

I guess they are also price matching Vultr, a company missing from the TechCrunch article. I switched to Vultr due to price and was actually pretty surprised how good it was. I must not have been alone...

Great for people stuck with some ancient hosting provider or on prem solution. Not say great for cost as literally the first you need to run this is serverless solution is...a server! Still super nice job.

Yes, I get that and it's a trap many people probably fall into. But why is this such a movement now? It seems common sense to me. I could be completely wrong though...

I don't understand the point of the whole "shipping" fetish and the "maker" culture that goes with it. Even when I'm probably considered part of it! Specifically the focus on the quantity of shipping, not so mu

LinkedIn is going the MySpace way. Total crap “content”, endless amount of people that indeed just want “connect” without intro, reason or anything else than bumping their numbers. Weird thing, I found it pretty useful up to 2 years ago. I

Super anecdotal / off topic but still fun. In 2014 I emailed with a guy who worked at Google to take over control of a domain he wasn’t using. All was well and he gave me access. I checked his Github project. Some tiny SPA framework wi

That was about time. I was always flabbergasted by how rough and confusing the search console was. I really like how Google are revamping their marketing/admin tools. The Google Optimize [0] tool is pretty nice and the only A/B te

Wow, that is pretty substantial difference between AWS and Azure. I’m pretty confident Microsoft is hard at work getting these numbers better, but it shows just how lonely AWS is at the top. I’m pretty deep into AWS-land but I’m rooting for

Microsoft made an offer for Mesosphere, but they turned it down [0]. These deals are of course never that "snappy". They probably had long and hard negotiations, but the deal never happened. 0: http://www.businessinside

Docker would fit nicely Microsoft’s Azure container offensive and new found love for all things Linux. They tried Mesosphere, but that didn’t work out.

Not a Docker fanboy, but... - Docker !== Kubernetes. - not liking a company !== the company’s product is obsolete. - clumsy marketing !== the company’s product is obsolete. Dare I say click bait?

Working together as in consistent styling. Margins, padding, font sizes etc. are consistent and scale when you use their xs, sm, md and lg formats...up to a degree.

I feel the extra padding and margin classes like mb-3, px-md-5 make up for a lot of the rigidity that the .container .row .col system insists on. Not perfect, but a whole lot better than anything I could come up with for a medium to large w

Overriding Bootstrap variables gets you 80% there. You can do a lot with changing padding, colors and fonts. I was very sceptical of Bootstrap from a design perspective but changed my mind after some deep diving into customization.

by tnolet 9y ago
Not arguing the usefulness of CSS Grid, but Bootstrap is a whole bunch more than just a grid. All the components in Bootstrap kinda work together with the .container .row .col classes and that’s still a crazy useful feature.

Look for Gang of Four or GoF and the Wiki link already mentioned. None of these patterns are implementation ready though and need sculpting and trimming most real life use cases.
