Sounds horrible but is true: a lot of stealing and copying. Eventually you kind of start to develop a knack for it and learn to create your own flavour. You also start to recognise the patterns you see everywhere and why they work.

I was on an Easyjet flight yesterday and their in flight magazine had a 15-page section with paid advertorials from all kinds of bitcoin, ico etc. companies. The rest were ads about VPN software. Pretty weird.

Totally off topic, but this thread shows that sarcasm and irony do not always translate that well over the internet. I had a chuckle at the deck and the comments it generated.

I’m super biased in this, having spend considerable time programming against PhantomJs, Selenium and now Headless Chrome / Puppeteer for my startup https://checklyhq.com . This whole area of automating browser interactions i

Big misunderstanding in browser land. The HTML delivered to you over the wire, the stuff Nokogiri sees, is not the stuff you see on your screen or even when doing a “view source”

Agree 100%. Headless & programmable browsing is a hard nut to crack. PhantomJs paved the way.

If there is one thing I learned it’s that “no managers” === “everyone is responsible”. That ends up as “no one is responsible”. Then chaos ensues due to no clear decision making and infighting because everyone is suddenly “boss”. As always

I guess the problem stems from whether you see a company as a 'family' or a 'place of work'. I'm personally pretty sceptical about the 'family'-type. In my experience this goes overboard and ends up being

Am I crazy or does the slide deck embedded in the article look totally normal? I would applaud if my senior management presented this.

Many train stations in the Netherlands have book and magazine shops with "self checkout". Basically a scanner & screen like you see at Ikea. Works great in rush hour when these places are packed with people buying morning news

The area on the pictures around the Leuschnerdamm and Bethaniendamm is a really nice area. Rent prices are OK-ish and there is a good balance of cool places / restaurants nearby and just normal housing and families. Just recently moved

As a Dutch man living in Germany I take my hat off for how active, balanced and thorough the Germans deal with the war. They should be an example to other countries.

Weirdly enough and probably unrelated, I had at least 4 fake friend request from “attractive” women in the last 2 weeks on FB. Mostly these accounts would disappear within hours or minutes. Never had that in x years of being on FB.

The Serverless framework is one of the most baffling and over engineered things I’ve seen in a long time. Instead of making thing easy it just a jungle of options and weird configs. No idea why it is so popular.
