Spotify conquered the living room. I recently canceled my Netflix subscription. I was an early and long time Soundcloud paid user. Also canceled that this year. Somehow Spotify keeps me hooked. The Discover Weekly is great. Listening to som

Hard to judge a book by its cover, but this will probably be picked up and canonized similar to the 37signals books and a handful of others. This is fine as long as new founders remember that these books are probably 50% (personal brand) ma

Been writing a lot of Vue.js lately. Tried React, but hit the same snag when learning (ancient) Greek in high school: when I look at a page of JSX my mind just freezes. It's the type of symbols and the syntax that just make me glaze ov

Yes! Also things like Gitter and Slack are really messy for storing knowledge. Questions get lost, answers are interspersed with more questions. Maybe I'm getting old, but give me a forum based, one-thread per topic any time of the day

Slightly off topic: When in high school me and some mates actually found a dead body in the canal. This was not in Amsterdam but Utrecht, which has very similar canals. My school was right on the canal and it was an early winter morning. Tu

Your tone is snarky and dismissive, but I kinda understand what you are saying and it is very relevant in essence. Kubernetes as fashion is a thing and for many teams probably a trap where the time/money invested in the IT infrastructu

Thanks for the tips. Crazy how things like this can slip. The site is static and on AWS Cloudfront, but it's a quick port from the actual Vue.js app which makes it rather big. Will make it server rendered (and faster) in the future. Fo

This hits home. Literraly signed up the first paying customer for my monitoring SaaS [0] two days ago. It was done through discussing issues over mail, a tiny bit of “hand holding” and treating the customer as a launching partner (which the

Wow. The top answer on that one is terrible. I would advise the exact opposite. Istio!? Nice idea, but have you tried using it? That is some serious alpha stage software almost noone needs till very late in their tech maturity.

Sorry for not being clear. There is nothing wrong with K8s features. It solves a specific problem really well. However, most people & companies I interact with don't have that problem. Or that problem is just a very marginal piece

The only part missing in most Kubernetes write ups is that you probably don't need it. I'm hopeful most engineers recognise this, although my day to day experience paints a darker picture. I know of at least one hot startup deploy
