If I recall, many of the worst school districts (inner cities) also spend the most dollars per student. I've been told this multiple times, but can't look for a source at the moment. Can someone else confirm or deny?

I recently picked up this book. Seems quite good, but I'm also mathematically inclined (there's a lot of abstract algebra in there).

I don't know what it's like there, but I would get involved in research with a professor if possible. Doing so had a really positive impact on my undergrad experience, and will inform if you want to stay in academia or not.

Many STEM programs have a diversity requirement. At my school, pure engineering only had to take a few liberal arts classes, but if you were a physics, chem, or bio major, you needed to take a smattering of courses that satisfied requiremen

At this point, LIDAR is still better than other methods for sensing and localization. However, it's quite expensive still, which is why doing sensing with cameras only has been a hot research topic. You won't get by on LIDAR alone

Conferences certainly count if they are refereed (peer reviewed). I don't know anything about that field, but that paper certainly doesn't pass the first glance test that others have mentioned in this thread. Good figures, etc.

I've found that there's generally two levels of paper understanding. The first is achievable in a day, and consists of recognizing what the authors did and roughly how their technique works and why it's different. The second,

You mean that it's undefined? It actually makes perfect sense that it is left this way. Consider addition and subtraction as functions: f(x) = x + 42 g(x) = x - 42 Now, realize that these functions are inverses of each oth
