Same here. Although for some projects lately that needed quick a bit of docker infra running, I found battery life dropping to 7-9 hours for the m1 and then my x220 (which doesn’t notice docker much unlike the m1) performs better with it’s

Maybe depends what tech you work in? In the Java and .NET sphere things are pretty much stable over many years. We hardly had to do any work to to move our systems (quite large ones) across the same well supported frameworks to new versions

Media (backed by ‘science’) keeps telling me that sleeping longer than 8 hours a night ups chances of having heart disease etc. Guess people think it’s unhealthy?

Weird he would say that as he gets an overview of the bonds he did purchase as he did with the 25$. If he got those it would be somewhat weird.

Yes, I had a very similar situation to you; startup (I took a salary though as we were profitable from day 1) and assets enough (nothing to do with crypto). Banks don't like any risk or differentiation of process; it is just easier t

Why? Both emails says the purchase of bonds failed and a refund will be processed; you cannot expect that to give you any interest right?

I believe this is the case in many countries; you can do some work like signing contracts and indeed answering emails and the phone for work purposes, but you cannot just take out the ol' laptop and write code for 90 days. Many people

It is too short a timespan; the year 2500 would be better. Statistically I'll even make it to 2050. But yeah, it's so short that I think; what to invest in long term and memorize the larger financial/crisis recession points (

Solid advice that; especially in a crazy startup situation, having many people will probably drive you insane. I had all kinds of startups over the decades; from 100s of people to me alone; the best ones were 2 people setups until significa

You are right, but you can stimulate wfh and stimulate companies to spread out more. The fact a lot of people are against that (including here on HN) shows that it's all great, but not in my backyard.

That is fantastic to hear; you are doing very good work. But history tells a story for most companies. I hope you keep it going; I might apply for a job!

That was to be expected though; I guess this is happening all over the place. The acquirer should do something about it. If they the acquirer is told and they don't fix it, then Visa/MC don't have much more choice (because th

I have only had bad experiences with the surface lineup and I really wanted to like them. I lost a lot of money to MS as they refused to repair saying it was my own fault that they broke. One came broken from the shop as in that I bought it

How? If you can travel back and forth and that makes it work, what is the problem? You can hate it, sure, but, at least where I live, people commute 3+ hours/day to make a nice living while living cheap. What is wrong with that?

I personally spend less hours working but doing more when at home. I first thought it was procrastination until I measured my output and noticed that I was being far more effective and doing work in maybe 50% of the time so I can just take

You can split and encrypt your backups usually though. Not a full solution for deletion but good enough for most. Your case sounds rather unique: not many people will ever see that volume. Most b2b saas solutions won't be bothered by t

It would be very rare to have lived through an IT career and not make one or two fatal autopilot mistakes. In the 90s and early 00s it was very easy to lose a production system because you did something wrong that you did 1000x times right

What is successful to you? In my definition for success (as single founder and operator) I say yes; if success is world domination then it is probably no. It would be easier with a cofounder though.

I am happy more people feel anger when they see trees cut down. Most places I visited as a kid are now deserts (good for putting solar but that’s not happening either) or farms instead of forests and it is said.

It definitely depends on the hardware. It works pretty well if not too new and if old, it is mostly perfect. I get a lot of older laptops from friends in my town and first thing I do is installing Ubuntu to see if how well it works. Usually

Netherlands is good as it’s not too expensive (we dropped the 9k ltd thing you also have for gbmh quite a while ago) but the rules and taxes and lack of investors is quite hard; similar things to Germany. You would be bound to those anyway
