For some terminal patients, there are types of pain that no amount of morphine or money can fix. I'm thankful to know that when its my time to go, I'll have the choice to skip enduring several days of torture should I wish.

You can cross wherever and whenever is safe to do so. If traffic conditions don’t facilitate this, pedestrian crossings provide guaranteed crossing points where pedestrians have right of way.

I would love to create a simple, searchable directory of consumer appliances, software and services that list all the ways you are _objectively_ fucked over as a consumer (I.e. whether something sells your data, requires always-on internet

Typescript can do some wacky stuff with strings. Not only will it give you autocomplete and prevent “bad strings”, you can write “foo as bar” in your select and typescript figures out the return type has a field “bar” by parsing the string

Surprised nobody has mentioned “Kysely” ( https://kysely.dev ). It is a query builder (not an ORM), that (ab)-uses the Typescript type system to give you full type safety, intellisense, autocomplete etc. Crucially it doesn’t requi

I would be concerned that adopting PR would force dominant parties to agree to the demands of smaller, fringe parties in order to form a working majority. FPTP, to some degree, stops this from happening.. Is this a dumb take?

If ChatGPT emits a fragment of code that doesn’t compile, a developer can simply undo and try again. No such luxury is granted to the driver using FSD who has just collided with another vehicle.

This sounded completely false to me initially. When I think of taking mass and turning it into black holes, it involves squashing the mass into a strictly smaller volume. Thus I would've expected the radius of the black hole to be nece

Very tangential, but wanted to share a small QoL trick that makes using poetry (and venv in general) much nicer... Instead of having to type "poetry shell" to activate the virtualenv, I use a tool called direnv that automatically

I bought the wife a "thermomix" because she was ranting/raving about how great it is. Its a glorified blender with a heating element that cost (at the time) well over a grand. Its only after I bought it (and the free trial ex

On the subject of scalping, I've never understood why tickets can't be bound to a particular identity. I.e. if you buy tickets as "John Smith", only someone who can prove they are "John Smith" is let through th

Cool project - if you include dots in the name the DNS availability checks are inaccurate. If I search for "foo.io", it tells me that "foo.io.io" is available

My point wasn't that scraping reddit is not a violation of the ToS, it was that you're not able to legally enforce the terms of the ToS (that you have quoted in your reply) on people who haven't agreed/consented to them

IANAL but my understanding is that violating the ToS is only ever a problem if your crawler decides to "sign-in", as that constitutes agreeing to the terms of the ToS. Further, old.reddit.com doesn't gate any content (even NS

You could instead ask it to "write out" the mathematical expression it wants to calculate in valid python instead of trying to hallucinate an answer directly. This could then be evaluated by a python REPL and passed back to Bloomb
