Migrate during continuous deployment. We use a staging environment, so CD deployed migrations are always run at least once before running on production. Migrations have to be written so that currently deployed code will work after the migra

The GP's link is helps define it. Apparently on second access it becomes paywalled, but the gist is photos become personal information when "specific technical means" are used to identify individuals. I think Instagram's

Getting a docker image to performantly access a local folder across platforms is a huge challenge. I love docker but it's just not good enough at handling watched folders.

Yes, netlify makes an open source CMS (single page app) which works with a bunch of static site generators. You can upload an image, edit the posts, and then the SPA will use github API to upload or edit. https://www.netlifycms.o

Great move by Netlify.. they offer a lot of features such as asset optimization or authentication that can now be evaluated locally. Currently I use netlify's redirects in production and maintain equivalent nginx configs for dev parity

For up to 43" has felt more productive. 50" was just too big. (I use 4k tvs). It's definitely nicer than two 27" for me.

I got the link. It just took me to the marketing site. The "Check status" thing worked, just clunky. Including some of the docs inline in the editor would be very useful... wouldn't have seen the templates (including recipien

This would be pretty trivial in the Chrome Inspector. Try loading your site, opening the inspector console and running this.. document.styleSheets[0].cssRules.length ..and then work on aggregating all stylesheet rules according to your need

There are lots of different approaches to defining the arguments and options. * You can build up a structure programmatically to define the arguments, as in commander, and then the usage and shape of the parsed result are implied. * You can

If you are designing software that can run for 100 years you should try to make it runnable in year 1. There are approximately zero punch card readers for new software today.

It's a Django backend: the dockerfile uses apt-get and pip. Pretty simple. Using ansible from a Dockerfile in the first place was a code smell, IMO.

I took over a Dockerfile that called out to ansible for all the heavy lifting, presumably because that's what the authors knew and liked. Translating to individual RUN lines removed 100s of lines of code, and vastly sped up the build p
