I don't doubt you (you surely know more about this than I do), but I would think that most of Flash's actual horsepower usage would go straight into the low level graphics engine - tweens, displaying sprites, boundary boxes. Is there really

One thing I'd like to see on your homepage is some text highlighting the differences between your system and other, similar applications that have come into the market in the past year or two.

There are 3 120 and 4x5 film development places within 15 minutes (driving) of my apartment.

I think the only thing to do is buy a vintage old film camera and buy all the film you can. I switched from digital to film a few months ago and I'm enjoying the process so much more.

I thought the drag could be beneficial in a way similar to wave power generators: pull on the balloon would operate a hydraulic piston, etc.

It's an interesting idea (more wind higher up, without the expensive tall shaft required for a regular wind turbine), but how does it get relaunched when it falls to the ground? Wouldn't a balloon or regular kite be simpler and just as effe

First off, and most importantly: the business idea itself is sound. I'm saying that as a guy who's transitioning into doing a lot of stuff on FB, and it's a frustrating process. This factor is more important than anything else. The homepage

How does this work? Did they port Erlang to Android?

I'm not a CouchDB pro by any means but I've been following it from a distance for some time. The main feature of CouchDB is that it's a fast, scalable database that also allows you to host your apps inside of it, with each "view" being stor

"One million" sounds like a lot, but "35 thousand" doesn't - the daily load isn't as scary as it seems, unless you are doing a lot of heavy lifting or it's verryyyyy bursty.

At this point in my career, I'm pretty confident in my abilities to get a lot of work out of minimal hardware, but it took me a lot of hard lessons to get there. Here's my random input for what it's worth. So you're saying the structure of

There is sentiment that Reddit's developers are too quick to adopt the latest me-too web technology which overall doesn't benefit them. So I think what he's implying is that it's money wasted on EC2 when a traditional server would be more c

Are you feeling depressed and uninspired in general? Often I find that when I'm not into what I'm doing in my life at that time, I begin to lose the mental energy to form brilliant, creative, highly structured thoughts. Once I get "the rush

A great value-add to this would be if it would start a service on some remote server and let you view the output there, perhaps charging you for the feature.

Also curious about how this compares to BERT, which uses Erlang's binary term format, which makes sense to me since so much infrastructure uses Erlang these days.

That would be interesting: if the govt required BP to "buy back" any oil the public can bring in, if it was easily tested to be of whatever quality, such as 50% oil:water mix. Let the public clean it up at ~$50/barrel - it's at $71/barrel n

I'd suggest that most people who switched to nginx from Apache did, in fact, notice a huge decrease in load. Otherwise why would anyone make the switch and stay with nginx? It's a risky proposition. Personal anecdote: on a very popular blog

Prefer scp/sftp over git. Am I supposed to publish site assets like 20gb of images in git? You can still trigger server-side actions when a file is pushed if you allow ssh. Other than that, more details on the service would be nice. How do
