Last time I went to the Microsoft store to get a replacement for my Surface keyboard, they were all sold out; so were all the Best Buy stores in South Florida except two far-flung ones. So people are definitely buying the Surface, at least

This, along with the M7 motion co-processor in the new iPhone 5S, and Apple's pretty substantial investment in iBeacons, tells me that Apple sees the future of the iOS ecosystem as a series of experience-enhancing physically-aware ambi

The AR Drone is the cheap, hackable way to do it. It's just a tiny PC running Linux hooked up to four weak motors. You can control it via wifi, or replace the flight software yourself if you are enterprising. Add their new GPS add-on,

Major +1. I find it so much harder to grok the overall gestalt of a development environment than to just understand the classes and data types. Same goes for Angular, which I currently find maddeningly awkward. Have trees, need forest.

My gut feeling is that if you have a group of committed potential customers -- i.e., people who trust you and are already interested in what you're building -- then it will probably work. But I'd be wary before you try to get peop

If I was dealing with 40+ diverse services that I needed anywhere within various JavaScript apps, I'd probably write some kind of mediating service broker: var App = new YouNow(); var Bcast = App.Api('BroadcastService'

Let me know how accurate you can get your system. I was planning something similar but with the broad ranges offered by BluetoothLE/iBeacon I didn't expect to get much accuracy out of the system.

Has anyone actually had any luck getting this working? Seems like such a revolutionary idea that I'm dying to try it, but no luck so far. It took me a few tries (and a couple hours) to get one of their preconfigured AMIs provisioned, e

I see why this is super useful, but won't this functionality make more sense at the iOS level, as part of their standard API and with full support in the XCode environment? All apps should be able to deep dive into other apps, with cer

Perhaps you should provide an option to have the db itself running as a child process (via cluster), and CRUD statements are actually proxied to that process (via a Unix pipe or socket) instead of updating the data directly in the process&#

The well known and standard cluster module (see http://nodejs.org/api/cluster.html ) does exactly that; I wish the author had examined its performance in the article, because I am sure his native Windows solution would be faster, though I'

Curious about this line from the article: "128bit encryption over Wi-Fi." Why only when using wifi? I'm not aware of too much bandwidth overhead involved in exchanging public keys and using AES in some kind of stream-emulation block mode. M
