Yeah this is wild. If someone joined my meeting while driving I'd end the call and reschedule it.

I think once you use it for a while, you kind of expect it to be there and tune it out. Then you only really perceive it when you're interested.

What does this mean? How do you "know" nextjs without knowing React? Do you mean they've heard of it and list it on their resume?

CSS zen garden worked because you had people writing different styles for a single HTML document. How would you write styles for every site ? Sure CSS does colors, but it also does a lot of other stuff that isn't easily transferrable

if they were truly represented by the same AST, I can't believe the differences between these "languages" would be anything more than swapping symbols out.

You store raw meat at temperatures that would degrade plastic for several hours, then eat it? There's a reason they call certain temperatures "the danger zone". I'd be more than willing to use a more degradable plastic f

I agree, my connotation of "web framework" is that it competes with Next.js or Remix or something. This seems like a schema-driven ORM a la Prisma, plus API layer. In other words, you could conceivably use it alongside a "web

the bandwidth is just enough to broadcast a single digit of binary every second. I'd be interested in some more context on this. I think it's pretty clear that you can encode more than 1bps in a 60kHz signal, but I'm curiou

I think they have to for the demo, because otherwise GPT will ramble for roughly 3-5 paragraphs. But that's a fair point that this could teach that behavior.

300-1800W power draw seems impressive! It looks like standard machines are using something on the order of 25kW while scanning, which certainly sounds prohibitive for less developed infrastructure.

Feels like there's more depressing stuff than that going on in the world. Sure, it's a constant struggle against government overreach and most of us live in a capitalist society, but it's not war or famine. On the other hand

You should try writing some code to pixel-shade a screen-sized canvas in JS (which you'd have to do to get the textured skybox). I don't think the performance would be usable, especially 15+ years ago.

Maybe you could have used Shockwave or something? But until WebGL implementations were shipped in 2011, there was no 3D API accessible from Javascript. At the time, Google Maps just did 2D tile scrolling. I remember being super impressed wh

Why can't you use vim and VSCode? I use the neovim extension for VSCode[1] and it works great! That gets me real vim input and the VSCode extension ecosystem. 1: https://github.com/vscode-neovim/vscode-neovim

No idea how to do this in a VSCode extension, but you could place a full-screen <canvas> over the whole editor with pointer-events: none. Then, you could use offsetLeft/Top or getBoundingClientRect() on relevant text elements to
