There are surprisingly strict rules about ice cream terminology pertaining to ingredient ratios. Is it ice cream? Ice milk? Custard? Etc. An ice cream-like product that is not actually "ice cream" is not necessarily inferior. Wi

I was the main author on the manual you linked to. In 2012, Stallman contacted me about his new book, and with that forthcoming, I thought it made no sense for me to spend much more time on mine. So I never got quite finished it, and did on

I currently have both a laptop and a desktop from my company. Other than a handful of occasional keystrokes, I sit while using the laptop also. A standing desk might be a better option, but that would work with either desktop or laptop. Get

I enjoy Dave Winer's outlining tools. I'm not fond of the often-used Twitter authentication (just personal preference; no technical reason), but the overall concept and work flow of the tools themselves is really nice.

Well, no, it's not a great opportunity for every local library to do this. As you suggested, they really don't have anything remotely like the staff and infrastructure. But it shouldn't be a job for every local library. All

Apparently, people don't check it out that much, but is that really a good reason for getting rid of it? For most libraries, I think so. By which I am referring to general purpose community libraries. They have limited space, and kee

It might be a bit too archaic now, as a lot of the terms and technologies discussed were on the way out even when the last printed version was published, but I did find The New Hacker's Dictionary very enjoyable in this sense. Progr

Illegal copying in music composition focuses on melody and lyrics. Reusing similar grooves, chord progressions, instrumentations, etc., is commonly done in many genres. It might stand out more in music like this, because, in the worldwide h
