Not impressed by the deeply poor? Color me un-empathetic. That's the entire issue that is being discussed here. Supply and demand has nothing to do with humanity.

Trying to get compiz/beryl to work on my crappy dell inspiron was probably one of a few indirect factors that resulted in my cushy tech job.

It really boggles my mind that a decade ago I would've been told not to believe what I read on wikipedia and now folks don't question anything they read on the internet. Is it because we've been fed this illusion of social ne

Just the other day I was in downtown Seattle and there was a protest going on - which isn't a strange occurance - and as someone who is probably even further to the left than these protesters, I couldn't help but think that while

I wasn't too offended by that bit. I checked out her source, and moved on. I think it's a pretty interesting piece - an interesting slice of life in a very strange time.

Nice! Looking forward to better power management - I'm a daily user in spite of this.

I am a frequent user of lime bikes. I think they have a few drawbacks that make them difficult to use all the time however. Mostly: 1. Consistently Well Working Bikes can be hard to find 2. I often use these to get from the residential part

Agreed. I still think there is potential here(on the Internet), though.

I was just talking today about how "The Seattle Freeze" would be a fantastic name for an NHL team here. Not that I actually believe in the Seattle Freeze, I just think it would be funny.

Buy directly from manufacturers or use smaller, more specialized retailers. You'll probably pay around the same price, possibly even less. Worst part is that you might not get your package in two days, but you also won't have to p

just because software exists on layer(s) of abstraction means nothing. It still requires hardware to run on - and still adheres to the laws of physics. I don't take much stock in your clean argument at all.

The only reason I didn't mention the tb-03 is that it is essentially a digital(software) option, whereas the TT-03 is still analog. I still think it sounds pretty good.

A lot of people, myself included, still love and create acid. The original 303 itself is pretty absurdly (prohibitively) expensive to acquire, and it's a tiny plastic toy and net anywhere from 2000-4000$. A case study in supply and dem

That's not really what I meant...but I guess I can see how you could interpret it that way. I do work for a certain outdoor recreation retailer that I happen to love dearly, so perhaps I shouldn't complain too much - but probably

You said something far more alarming and also flat out wrong - that's what I'm refuting. This 2 or 10 or whatever tiny amount of birds at a time thing you are claiming to experience...doesn't match my experience whatsoever. I

While I find all of this stuff totally disturbing - claiming that you'd be lucky to see 10 seagulls at Kalaloch Beach is insane. I used to live in Olympia and would visit Kalaloch/Ruby Beach on a monthly basis - even camped there

I have lived in West Michigan (Insanely Cheap), Kansas City (Kinda Cheap), and Seattle (Pretty Expensive). Thing is, renting a 900 sq foot apartment in any reasonably urban area has gotten pretty expensive anywhere. It was about 1000-1500$

There are plenty of people who want to do basically anything you can imagine. Statistically, we are as a society, drifting closer to urban cores. I too dream of buying 50 acres in the midwest for about 100k or so - so don't get me wron
