I think it can be done right. My situation before I went fully remote a few years ago was a pretty flexible policy where you could wfh 2 days a week. I think you could extend this to 3 days a week or maybe even just have a mandatory 2 days

There are benefits to working remotely- nobody is questioning that.

I’m with you in regards to missing the office. I posted this before but I wonder how many of the newly WFH are merely in the honeymoon phase of remote work. We should have flexibility however.

Kind of twisted to be upset with people for working less when productivity has increased and wages have stagnated for fifty years.

This comment appears to be an attempt to paint these conspiracy theories as equivalent. One posits there was a Russian influence on an election(which is probably true if not likely in all of our elections for the past 50 years) and the othe

Oh dang, for some reason I thought the article was titled “The Left-YIMBY Canon.” Guess I’ve got egg on my face and I even read the dang thing.

Agreed. NIMBYs and YIMBYs exist across the political spectrum. This article seems to attempt to make the divide deeper along political lines.

I started working from home a couple of years ago. I can't wait to go back into the office. I wonder how many people enjoy working from home now but won't in another year or two.

I’ve experienced this first hand. I really think more money would solve this problem. If the departments weren’t structuring themselves to survive indefinitely out of fear, then we could engineer in government.

Definitely all private sector in the US. That’s almost exactly what I’m getting at.

Lol this is kind of funny given my other post but in addition to having worked in government I’ve also worked in healthcare. I made about 50% of what I do now at that vendor and was glad to leave. I truly think if people had an incentive to

I was involved with a replatforming project in a state government that failed expensively. I lasted six months before I left. It was infuriating and depressing. I think with enough money the nearly impossible bureaucracy reform could be po

I keep seeing this sentiment pop up here on HN and I've come at it in other posts. All of the Trump supporters I know are upper middle class suburbanites who have been fairly well off for quite a while. Not sure I have any empathy for

What a backwards ass situation we've found ourselves in. Imagine the flip side. Imagine if a bunch of "conservatives" from Mississippi started a web hosting company 10 years ago and then an anti-fascist social media platform

Thats a sweet sob story and all but are we sure we're talking about the same people? The Trump supporters who I am talking about have spent the last 4 years alienating their friends and family, bragging about their success, and making

This is absurd. You must know it to be so. They are angry because they lost and they are being told that they didn't lose. If you can be told that anything you don't like is the case then you will always be "unheard." ML

Is this reflective at all in home prices? If there /is/ a mass exodus one would think the demand for housing is dropping and supply is increasing. I'd gladly move to California(specifically the bay area or southern california
