I started using the web in the mid 90s at around nine or ten. The most positive interactions I remember weren't on nascent chat rooms or forums but through email. As a space obsessed kid I managed to build a small email list of contact

Nothing would surprise me at this point. Every time they address a problem they find a bunch of new ones. God knows how many more they're introducing in the process. I wouldn't want to fly on that thing unless the Boeing CEOs (cur

Something like GERTY from Moon would be all you need around the home. And you wouldn't need to worry about charging him either.

They were talking about running this in New Zealand between Wellington and Christchurch. The idea sounded batshit insane to begin with given how rough the waters are in the Cook Strait, which is also one of the reasons why there's no b

If you're interested in learning operating systems or compilers the TempleOS source is surprisingly approachable and clocks in at around 100K LOC. I did a deep dive of HolyC while on a long bus drive and came away with a lot. Terry Dav

Speaking English poorly doesn't imply writing will be as poor. I work in Japan and have colleagues who I'll struggle to communicate with verbally, yet I don't have the same issue over text.

I own a Bravia, it has all the usual bells and whistles but was made in Japan for the Japanese market. We've had it connected to the internet for the year since we bought it and haven't had any trouble with ads.

We use Pi-hole for blocking Meta and other shit. It's also pretty decent at blocking ads. This is all based on blacklisting so is far from infallible. You'll still need to take some interest in what your kids are up to.
