Is there any writeup about passkeys privacy? Tie everything to apple/whoever is pretty darn dystopian. And the "second factor" as described in this article doesn't exactly sound enticing.

How does this affect longevity? And how can you know that whatever mix you ended up with in your car will work long term?

I wouldn't even trust that blindly, I totally imagine that there could be metadata in the screenshot containing for example the title of the window being screenshotted etc. If noone does that right now it is just an update away.

By necessity I already do it many times a day on my workstation. It would be neat for the cloud to start utilizing the endless compute available on client machines. A back-channel when doing a git push to publish some related artifacts?

The rise and popularity of LSP and projects such as treesitter are a superb foundation for features such as this. Both support a wealth of languages, it is still and will be quite hard to assume the toolchain and settings required for produ

> Single threaded code is capable of utilising just 0.2% of that machine! Promise? That's fantastic! Because few things deserve to use more than 0.2% percent of that machine. Sure, you could parallel it, and now it takes 0.3% to do

That isn't a feature though. As it means and renders completely different in different contexts and apps.

Not really, they mean totally different things to different generations etc. and to add to that depending on your app and system they render completely different as to change the entire meaning. And that is before taking into account totall

That's a very roundabout way to justify it though. How much would toll really affect food prices per person? And is there really no other way to offset that?

The whole point of the statistics is that you can pick what you want. Why would you dismiss the statistics and buy what backblaze does? Defeats the entire point of the statistics and article in the first palce. Top level comment: > This

I don't follow. The statistics backblaze post doesn't implicate that you should buy the same drives they do. It is because of theses statistics that you have (at least an inkling of) a fighting chance to pick the drive that more s

So now I have to lug around two of everything (laptop, phone etc) just because I might want to do something unrelated to work? It is completely unreasonable as a blanket statement.

You say this on a forum where the majority probably has an iphone or macbook, of course people are going to be tone-deaf to it. Not even the HN-audience cares enough to turn down something shiny.

Nix is a huge dependency though, in a lot of sense (have to learn a new programming language rather than invest in your git skills etc.). Even if you are mostly running nixos.
