Alternatives we have? Regular good old html without or with minimal amount of javascript. Absurdly fast compared to todays site. Many orders of magnitude less power. Faster to develop and better user experience too. But I also think we sh

Haven't transitioned to podman, yet, so maybe out of place - but: Not sure how that is relevant to podman-compose?

Not really, if you are aware of that and have been actively been opting out of vscode telemetry it is downright malicious of addons to do it behind your back anyway.

Probably much quicker for most people, and then they end up having to debug it to death. And yes, that includes pretty much any alternative mentioned here.

If step 1 is to spend 30 hours researching the state of linux for each of the alternatives that makes them dead on arrival and a complete waste of time and money in my mind.

I would even go as far as to say that among commuters buying coffee mostly consist of commuters buying coffee. Maybe they have other customers too? And come to think of it, you won't buy a coffee (at a drive-through!) when you are one

The [22] source doesn't say anything about that research. But a commuter is a very specific customer and hardly represents all customers. Further, I'm guessing but doubt that commuters wouldn't go to mcd just for coffee, what

Why? All this debate on how hot you like to drink your coffee etc. is completely irrelevant. You don't chug your coffee on your way from the counter. You probably have some other items that you consume before you even start sipping on

Thus far waymo is the only company able to manage self-driving projects. Feels weird to single out traditional car companies.

You invest in an ecosystem. That means that you are aware of the vendor lock-in and realize that moving to something else is going to be expensive and troublesome. Perhaps having to get rid of devices you've collected over a decade or

Tabs etc. works fine in asvetliakov.vscode-neovim. But personally I get more return out of improving my nvim setup than trying to bend vscode to match vim.

That is really nice but not quite the same thing imho, "vim-keybindings" is more than just mashing hjkl. Is is putting keybindings up front and a way to reason about shortcuts. You can often imagine shortcuts you've never eve

That is a very US specific problem though. It would have been easy to make a store for java apps present on other platforms as well. Could even have been a java app itself or a homepage.

Surprised noone has mentioned sxiv, it is brilliant in (I guess) the same way people like xterm. Really minimalistic but at the same time quite powerful under the hood. All normal operations have quick vim-inspired shortcuts (and scroll to

I do not mind the minecraft aesthetic, but it feels a bit weird if all voxels evolved into was that. Most promising showcase (for its time) that I know of was Delta Force from 1998 in which the landscape geometry was vastly more detailed. B

How is it unfounded? How is it unreasonable to question the relevance of an optimization from a time where the relevant parts of computing were completely different? "Programmers waste enormous amounts of time thinking about, or worry

It isn't fair to assume the same rigor on a comment. But, you don't have to be a bigger expert than Knuth to dismiss an optimization done for hardware say 40 years ago (the circumstances around this particular case I don't kn
