Those are different sites, you wouldn't have 8 routers in one place. So I guess each one of those devices can manage 5 unifi devices, going only by the image it looks like in their setup there is one AP for each device (if that is how

We do, but it requires a lot more for something like this to pass and take people by surprise. In jellyfin there is no central server and it works fine without internet access. With Plex it was always implied that they could do something li

Giving up freedom for convenience often involves some form trust, which isn't unreasonable. You expect a service, you often pay for, to respect their users and to act in their users best interest - even if they have other interests as

The weird part is the hype around it, because that extends well beyond that particular scenario. Or maybe scale doesn't matter. Even if you replace thousands with tens you still often have a huge variety in skillset and focus.

Sloppy security in favor of reimbursement is financing organized crime. Though how credit card processing fees relate to sloppy security is mostly a brainfart by me.

Such fees just encourages bad incentives. Such as terrible security because reimbursing people / financing organized crime is cheaper (cheaper for the bank, of course much more expensive for society).

I'm not saying to ditch the laptop, just do the processing on a machine made for it. And of course use the desktop as your main device when you are at your home/office wherever the desktop is.

If you are buying a new laptop every generation just for it to be bearable just buy a proper machine that can encode it for you. Bonus points for being able to do it while your laptop is in your bag.

Work on a laptop if you must. But don't encode/render etc. on a laptop.

And why on earth would you do that on a laptop to start with? I'm sure apple not having decent desktops for a decade leaves a mark. I guess I'm surprised people put up with it.

You are right but I disagree. Yes, devices do not charge batteries to 100% as that is directly damaging. And they don't discharge to 0% for the same reason. So they charge to something slightly less. But that slightly less is for all i

Most of the time that is actually much better than fractional scaling. On a laptop you are severely constrained by the screen real estate, so minimizing the size of the clutter and focus on the content (text) is a great tradeoff in most cir

Pollution must be taxed as well, and electric vehicles will have an advantage there. No need to unnecessarily dictate technology. We want light cars and we don't want pollution.
