What a great comment. It's worth more than most of what is currently ranked on the homepage, and likely the best thing I've read today. Reality checks like these are sorely needed to offset the glorious stories of the few that made it which

Scapegoating at its best. Really, what a disgrace this is. Scientists are already loathe to communicate directly with the general public for fear of misunderstanding of carefully chosen words. This kind of farce will cause a rift that will

Well, it is your stuff, so I can only wish you the best of luck. And I sincerely hope that you will not come to regret this at a later age, as someone who 'lost all his stuff' on two occasions I can tell you that even after two decades you

I lost a friend (55) to a brain tumour. From initial diagnosis to funeral: 17 days. His last words to me were 'I'm going to fight this thing'. He never stood a chance.

This is most likely false. You are stating this as a fact but there is some proof to the contrary: Sweden has already extradited people to the US in cases where they really shouldn't have whereas the UK has so far been quite reluctant to do

The problem here is that a lot of newly minted IT professionals will write stuff that will allow a re-use of all those old exploits all over again. Occasionally warning people about known dangers doesn't harm. Sure that's not exactly moving

Tough to flush to spinning disk after your power goes down. So you'd have to do it continuously, which would remove most of the performance gains.
