Tip: If you are very casual smoker and see a form asking you "Have you ever smoked?" or "Do you smoke any tobacco?" then say no. If you say yes then you will see it getting reported to your health insurance and even life

This is well covered in many books and articles. The back story, as I understand, is that Allen was checked out from Microsoft even before he got sick. He was going through relationship and other personal issues and went through long stretc

I get the hoopla but what’s the alternative? It’s not that Chinese customers are clamoring for any of the Google services. Without Google, China will continue to develop their home grown services with far more surveillance than Google would

Pretty bad journalism. The article is full of what other people think of this act without ever revealing what really this new act does!

Main paragraph: I grew increasingly disillusioned with academia. It seemed that many STEM undergraduates would rush into PhD programs out of sheer inertia, without exploration of other options, and spend five, six years of their prime yout

Could you highlight his reasoning for being committed Christian? In my experience, it is very hard for intellectuals to cling to their religious beliefs in face of ocean of severe logical contradictions. So many of my discussions have usual

The problem with China is that government isn’t magically going to remove sensorship and Google had zero impact on their policy by staying out. It seems right move to me that Google will provide slightly more open search and other apps and

No, they left it to rott. No innovations, no new strategy, no new leadership, no new bold moves. Nothing. If G+ was startup outside Google we would have ripped it off for not even pretending to compete. Social is absolutely the most importa

Lot of us are estranged from our partners. I would say only this: Even if things are very bad, a thought of them dying will make you wish that you could have done something different while both of you were still breathing. There are no argu

Number of project failures and cuts under Larry Page is just amazing. Normally you would expect that founder CEO insist on long term vision and loves to go after big bets. Under Larry Page, X had been cut. Boston Dynamics was lost. Robotics

His argument absolutely does not make any sense. This combined with the fact that AT&T and others have already been paying administration for getting favorable laws passed, I hope someday this guy gets investigated for bribery.

Not true. Inter-racial marriages are actually very rare in all western countries, just a drop in bucket (although they are more visible because of our tendency to remember surprises more often than norms). Usually Asian boys would travel ba

Cruise has made admirable progress but with 1/3rd miles and infrastructure they are way behind Waymo. Other players have basically existed the endeavour more or less so they do get to be at #2.

Personally I don't Musk had a choice. If he didn't do what he did then very likely Tesla would be bankrupt by now because of its debt obligations + short sellers. The short sellers counted on it. The choices he faced were go bankr

Your argument is not making sense to me as someone who had offers from startups. I was asked to take roughly 40% pay cut now and expect 10X increase in valuation for equity over 4 years which would put me ahead by 2X to 3X in terms of total
