> Then why should you care about what the makers of Factorio do? As I said I find it very interesting how people respond to it. This whole thread is an example why. That makes it interesting. Why Factorio? Why not 'Farming Simulator

I don't doubt that it's worth the money. I just dislike their attitude. If it was a perfect fit for me, I'd swallow it and get it, sure. But thruth is I'm only a very occasional puzzle gamer. So i'd probably not pla

You know what else is interesting? Their "no sales" sales philosophy. For me its the reason never to buy it. I actually revolt when I hear their reasons. I feel like it comes down to: we are willing to hurt our options for making

Is it truly the only thing they could do? They could force phones to use different defaults. They could ban preinstallation of their apps. They could force preinstallation of competing apps. They could throttle them so their services get sl

I would be interested in a we hat replacement, but as soon as I read ethereum I thought: nah. Cryptocurrencies are just not compatible with mainstream consumption. Why? Because I get paid in euros. And you might get paid in dollars. And a w

I don't think this is going to be a popular opinion, but what is the use of designating something as UNESCO world heritage? Doesn't the protection it would require keep budget away from other things, like COVID? I understand that

I had this problem as well with a simple game i made. what i did instead is to just randomize the movement a little. And that was really enough. Making them any smarter would have made the game really short.

Whatsapp surely doesn't contact anyones contacts to collect bills or harass people in other ways. The contacts have not agreed to be spammed for these purposes. Therefore it is understandable Google doesn't want you in their store

You know something about this specific case. I do not. I hope you land the kind of role you want, if you dont already have it yet.

Perhaps, but perhaps the role just wasn't fit for you. A lot of 'senior dev' roles are much more about programming language trivia and much less about leadership.

It is pretty ugly what is happening now. france seizing european masks. the us seizing french masks. dutch ventilators getting seized in the us. we're supposed to be allies. let's stop this now. Perhaps we can let nato take charge

honestly, if i were a manager and stuff wasn't getting done I would want to see what was going on. And that's a pretty common situation when people are implementing complex things like software.

I hope not and if it does, I hope Kamernet goes down with it. Your company is taxing students for essentially nothing but an introduction. And it has been doing that for decades. Not that I would normally mind your existence, but I do now I

Well yeah people dying does put a bit of pressure on things. Roche hasn't been forced though. Perhaps they decided their strategic relationship with Dutch governments wasn't worth compromising over this.

Look I don't think it's the medium really. HN is quite similar to Reddit. Reddit I wouldn't consider to be that healthy as it's really driven by strong politics and it's sometimes impossible to express an opinion re

That makes good sense. ASD is a catch all term for those with certain symptoms that are unexplained by other factors. Schizophrenia and anxiety disorders would be some of those other factors. Not sure about ADHD.
