Isn't this (kinda) true, in general? I work at Google. Many of the "official descriptions" of various levels include "size of team" as part of the description. I think, generally, anyone in a middle management pos

Nothing. And if you work for a big tech company, you will get "patent bonuses" for doing so.

> As an Aussie observer, I'm seeing more US influence in our region. Not an expert, but my guess is that there is (probably valid) concern about China. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" and all that.

I think a lot of "smoothing" algorithms don't work at the ends of the data. Smoothing usually takes in past and future data. At the end of the graph there is no future data. (Maybe that's not the case for this type

As I was reading the article just now it made me wonder: does Mars have a really diverse landscape -- that just happens to be all covered in layers of red dust? I have no idea. But I'd always thought it looked so homogeneous from the

Does anyone think that there will be enough GPUs in data centers soon ? I honestly don't know. But it seems like there should be. Like I (kinda) get the scaling laws with LLMs. But at what point do we run out of training data? Is

As a VisionPro owner, I was pretty surprised when I first used it that WebXR wasn't supported out of the box. It's an amazing piece of hardware. But they have really dropped the ball on software -- so far.

I can't say I've ever had a desire to talk to an LLM about human-human interactions. But I do prefer Claude and have been a happy user for things I do want to talk to an LLM about (mostly learning things -- including coding).

How hard will it be to scale up resolution/dpi with your tech? Hopefully you’ll be successful enough to make more devices. Just curious if there is a path to “retina” displays.

I don’t have any idea what goes on inside OAI. But I have this strange feeling that they were right to oust sama. They didn’t have the leverage to pull it off, though.

Going on vacation has a “negative roi” if you only look at it from a financial perspective. That doesn’t mean that choosing to travel is always a bad idea.

Interestingly, for my older sister, the answer is yes. For my younger sister, it is no. I agree with the point, though. It's more socially acceptable for a women to choose a lower paying job that she prefers.

One thing that I think doesn't get enough attention in these types of discussions -- not just this article about ROI, but also earnings disparities between (e.g.) genders and other groups -- is that income isn't the only measure

A quick Google search claims that Tesla’s “4680” battery has an energy density of 244 to 296 Wh/kg. I don’t know enough about the industry to know if these numbers are right. If they are, seems like BYD is pretty far behind Tesla. Any
