Unfortunately, I tried to use zed as my daily driver, but the typescript experience was subpar. While the editor itself was snappy, LSP actions like "jump to declaration" were incredibly slow on our codebase compared to VS Code &#

Really interesting article, unfortunately it seems quite lucrative to scam seniors, and very hard to prevent, especially when they don’t think they’re being scammed.

I understood it to be the reverse - they advertise on LinkedIn, and the trackers determine whether the users convert once they click through. Not great, but at least not as ill intentioned

Happy mrge user here - congrats on the launch! It’s encouraged our team to do more stacked PRs and made every review a bit nicer

I appreciate the author’s openness in sharing their experience - it’s really worthwhile to share experiences where money isn’t everything, and that it can be a poor generator of meaning. Speaking of meaning, I think it’s a task for everyone

That's wonderful - I used to solder with a cheap iron until university. A nice iron gets a lot hotter, and it makes everything easier and faster. It may not matter for keyboards, but on a small PCB where everything is a few mm part, th

This is quite a pessimistic article with some sweeping generalizations across tech… it may be true in some places but I disagree that software engineering is at its core fungible (yet)

Loved this article. My two "superpowers" as a dad - superglue and new batteries. Sometimes I get to bring out the soldering iron - my wife will bring things home from Buy Nothing so I can fix it, the kids play with it for a day, a

If someone ever invented a gun that is guaranteed to never fire when pointed at a human, assuming the safeguards were non-trivial to bypass, that would certainly improve gun violence, in the same way that a fingerprint lock reduces gun viol

This is a fascinating idea - although I wish the definition of search in the LLM context was expanded a bit more. What kind of search capability strapped onto current-gen LLMs would give them superpowers?

This sounds like what a lot of companies do - except the scaled problem with this approach (and the certification approach of the grandparent) is that most companies want to avoid candidates who've memorized a specific solution, as the

Congrats on the launch, I'm excited to give it a try. I'm curious how you're having it edit files in place - having built a similar project last summer, I had trouble with reliably getting it to patch files with correct line

I'm still maintaining Delphi software that my dad wrote in the 90s and is actively used today. Delphi (and Windows, which can still run it!) is pretty amazing, even if writing Pascal is less pleasant than most modern languages due to t

I returned the Steam Deck when I received it - it was larger than expected and just didn't feel ergonomic. The Portal on the other hand almost feels like holding the DualSense. It's a nice, though limited, device.

This is true for the user, but not good enough for developers, who unfortunately need to stay on top of all of this to build functioning software. If users report bugs you can’t repro, you may have to dive into all of these. And that’s the

As a YC founder, YC doesn't teach founders anything when it comes to how to split equity. The economics you're describing is a function of (overly) high valuations in private markets, which leads to equity grants that don't a
