I feel like this is mostly a marketing piece. While it's maybe not terribly wrong (I'm not confident enough to really discuss the topic) since startpage produces a browser extension to manage privacy it seems suspect to me.

It's probably not super "significant", but it's neat. Someone has a light bulb (the omni-directional beacon) 40 km away, and completely invisible if you go looking for it (from his ground station location). The author po

I see an article with a first subheading of "In this report, we apply basic scientific techniques to answer the question “Is Kansas as flat as a pancake?”." It's kind of a funny article. Maybe try this mirror: https:/&#

This is really nice. Have you given any thought to visualization of non-Gaussian processes / systems (think particle clouds, or systems that are mixes of Gaussian and non-Gaussian processes?)

Does anyone have sources for suggestions about what we should do? I read these articles, and worry, and wonder what can I do. It's not clear to me that buying organic mono-cropped bananas at the mega mart is in anyway better or worse t

I feel there's probably a benefit to general purpose systems. Most non-general purpose machines I encounter are IoT or PLC devices and the S in those acronyms is for security. At least with a general purpose system I can implement hard

The dual camera is a design choice I hadn't thought of. I've thought of scanning a couple books, and that's probably the trick for me. Though maybe I'll rotate the book and scan / rotate images separately.

You can have a time system based around sunrise. I mean with most clocks also being internet connected computers it wouldnt be too hard to make a system where you measure time in hours after average sunrise in a tike zone. That is where I l

My complaint comes from the at scale part. I don't do anything at scale. I don't have to scale. My core competency is as a library or tool builder, and often my primary deliverable is a tool or library. In the past year I got a ne
