As a consumer I actually quite like the current Google search. The AI thing often tells you want straight away and usually links to sources if you want to fact check. The traditional link thing works too. The people who say it's unusab

The multinational companies are a fair bit outside democratic control. If one country bans or restricts them they can operate from some other one.

Maybe more both artists and corporations try to make money but AI has tipped the competitive ground in the corporations favour? I've seen the kind of effect a bit with hotels - hotels, booking.com etc, and Google all want to make money

Gold is popular as jewellery. The price is determined largely by the cost of mining it and so has remained somewhat stable compared to the cost of things like houses for centuries, far more so than other money like things.

You can make an argument that training an LLM on something is not the same as copying it in the same way that your brain is not in breach of copyright for having watched a Disney movie. I'm not sure of the rights and wrongs of that but

The AI related companies seem to be doing ok. Google profits $132bn Microsoft $102bn. Anthropic losing about $10bn but on revenue of $30bn up from $14bn a year or so ago. I don't think it's all going bust too quickly.

One minor data point. I've got a friend who worked as a translator. That's slacked off a bit and she's retrained as a tour guide. I think there will be a trend towards humans doing more human facing work.
