Russian Troops' Fear Grows as Ukraine AI "Slaughterbot" Drones Headhunt Them
- tim333 5mo agoSome discussion on r/ukraine https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/1tilmjy/russian_troops_fear_grows_as_ukraine_ai/ https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/1tilmjy/russian_tr...
- dmos62 5mo agoNo discussions of note on that thread. We have little more than a single ambiguous video and hearsay on the subject of an auto-targeting anti-personnel quadcopter. However, recently videos emerged of an auto-targeting Ukraine-produced fixed-wing bombing trucks and such.
- tim333 5mo agoI guess as you say it may be not so. The fixed wing ones taking out trucks I think are from Eric Schmidt's company.
- hirvi74 5mo agoIt is wild and utterly tragic to me how much the landscape of warfare as changed so rapidly. While I adamantly support the Ukrainian defense against Russia's invasion, I still cannot help but feel empathy for many of the soldiers on both sides. Young men and women that likely would rather be anywhere else in the world. Warhammer 40k lore was right about one thing, "There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."
- pixl97 5mo agoThe utter tragedy is that old men love to start wars and watch young men die in them. Technology always changes war, and this is just the beginning of drone technology. Autonomous operations will increase with time, and sooner or later warring nations will just drop clouds of small drones in particular areas and 'let god sort them out'.
- Glawen 5mo agoI read that ukrainian army starts enroling at 25 to 60, making it a significantly older army than russia
- pixl97 5mo agoI mean, Ukraine didn't choose to have this war... but there is a scared old fart in Russia that did.
- 20after4 5mo agoSooner or later (probably sooner), clouds of killer drones will be coming for all of us.
- fallingfrog 5mo ago"Politicians hide themselves away They only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor" Nothing ever changes.
- euroderf 5mo ago> Autonomous operations will increase with time, and sooner or later warring nations will just drop clouds of small drones in particular areas and 'let god sort them out'. This does feel inevitable. And yet can it be made "hackproof"? Even now there are claims that Russian EW is responsible for not just confusing but also taking control of Ukrainian drones, sending them into Baltic countries.
- RetroTechie 5mo agoApparently, in Vietnam war there were radio stations, aimed at talking down morale among US troops. Anyone know if this (or a modern variant) has been tried in Russo-Ukraine war? Might be very effective given already low-morale troops chased by headhunting drones. There's many examples throughout history where armies fell apart when the soldiers had enough & ran off.
- lancekey 5mo agohttps://hochuzhit.com/en/ https://hochuzhit.com/en/ I think i saw videos of drones w loudspeakers or dropping flyers w a telegram QR code but I don’t have sources.
- tim333 5mo agoBoth sides try. On the Ukrainian side the drone people post a bunch of gruesome drone deaths on @414magyarbirds I've come to the conclusion the AI slaugherbot in the article I posted to HN isn't one. If you look carefully at the video the Russian shoots his rifle at it setting off the shaped charge. Sorry about that.
- d0mine 5mo agoAlmost everything you see on the topic is propaganda. Alternative views are suppressed (though I’m surprised on the relative diversity I’m seeing in this thread)
- elkrapo 5mo agoThe lethality sounds very humane but if ending a war is an excuse for anything then I doubt Russia could handle a fraction of the casualties if they were primarily sub-lethal.

- dmos62 5mo agoInvading a country is an act of aggression. Choosing to not align self and/or protect self from a menacing neighbor is an act of self-defence. To say that the Ukraine-Russia war is not a war against Ukraine and its people is incredibly insulting. The belt of countries Russia has been serially invading since the collapse of USSR, not to mention the acts of USSR, are crimes against proper nations and peoples who have the right to self-determination and safety. You think that your neighbors, "the West", US are your problem? Maybe your real problem is the den of thieves you call your gorvernment? What will happen to your communities after this war? They gambled your society on a 3-day war, and you're the loser, no matter how the war ends.
- letssaythat 5mo agoRussia invaded a country right on its borders, and which wss for years posing greater and grester very real threat to its security (remember the arms shipments of one Boris Johnson? I do), very much unlike your "national security concerns" which for some reason cause you to attack cpuntries on the other side of the globe, posing no real threat to your country. "Incredibly insulting" - sorry, but this is an incredibly ignorant thing to say. Millions of people in Ukraine identify themselves even now with the Russian people, but cannot say anything against glorifying ww2 collaborationists and classifying Russians as undermensches, all with tacit encouragement by the west. As to "the belt of countries Russia invaded".. which ones? Georgia which itself admitted that it itself started the war? Or Abhazia? Do you even understand the absurdity of this, compared for example to what the US does? The scale, do you understand the scale? (I of course don't mean the scale of publications in the western media, maybe this confuses you..) And my biggest problem is not the Russian government, it is people in the west who gave license to humiliate, hunt, persecute on their social media (remember the permission for "hate speech" against Russians on facebooks etc?) and eventually kill Russian people. If they dare not to bow and renounce their culture, faith, identity as you are required to do in Ukraine and not only there. As for "loser"..? You think the jews in ww2 cared to be condidered as "losers"? Well, this is more or less how the Russians feel, whether you think it is "Russian propaganda" or not
