I know Shopify has a great site on comparing Ruby vs YJIT perf. https://speed.yjit.org But does anyone have current numbers on how Ruby/YJIT compares to something like Python/PHP/LuaJIT?

A few years ago, 1password became an electron app - and the Internet seemed to lose its mind when that happened.

Practical AI/ML, and not all the marketing buzz. Does anyone know of a good “AI/ML for Dummies” … from the basics. I do not want something that is just teaching me dozens of frameworks or toolkits.

I know Sabre, one of the largest GDS (and originally a spinoff of AA), has fully migrated off mainframe. Curious if AA and other airlines have as well.

I have the opposite reaction. AI right now feels like that MBA person at work. They don’t know anything. But because they sound like they are speaking with authority & confidence, allows them to get promoted at work. (While all of the e

When you say “cloud”, are you including old school web hosts that will rent you a dedicated server? Like OVH, Hetzner or Hivelocity? Because you can get some insane servers for like $300/month (eg brand new 5th gen Epyc 48-core /

Truffle: TruffleRuby is not 100% compatible with MRI 3.2 yet Rails: Rails 8 will require Ruby 3.2.0 or newer https://github.com/oracle/truffleruby https://rubyonrails.org/2024/9/

Note that Rails doesn't work on Truffle and from what I understand, won't anytime soon. Which is disappointing since it has the highest likelihood of making the biggest impact to Ruby perf.

Dart - I see it mentioned (and perf looks impressive), but is it widely adopted? Also, would have loved to see LuaJIT (interpreted lang) & Crystal (static Ruby like language) included just for comparison sake.

Hi Chris Many thanks for all the years of dedication to Phoenix and value you've given to developers around the world. OT: any thought about updating the 9-year old perf benchmark blog post? And is bandit now recommended over cowboy?

Seems odd that 4 out-of-the 5 criteria are price related, and only 1 of 5 is related to how good the actual product is. This post seems less about “trying every email marketing tool” to actually just being about “what’s the cheapest tool”.
