Most of the time comedians are performing at open mics. Unless you're in LA or NYC, this will be in front of the same people every time (other comics who are notoriously difficult to make laugh) and maybe 1 or 2 "civilians"

I performed stand up comedy for over a year and I can relate to this (but I've got a computer science background). I was a one-liner instead of a story teller (even though I wished I was a story teller). Here's how my background

IMO, the example you're using in your blog should be simplified even more. I've never heard of Passenger before and it's not something I've needed. But I have needed to ensure that a file exists in a particular folder o

I barely knew javascript before I learned coffeescript. Now I know both pretty well as a result. coffeescript compiles to really readable javascript anyway (yes, that's subjective). I use both in the same project. For example, I hav

Good post, but I just want to point out that it hinges on your strategy = his system. The more comments I see, the more confused I am about what his definition of a system is.

As a tradition, no. Old books like this are often read in a management context. For example, at my local book shop, The Book of Five Rings is in the Business section[1]. The Art of War by Sun Tzu[2] can be applied to any context you wa

If that was the point you were trying to make, it didn't come across to me at all. I interpreted the point to be, "If you want to quit because things are boring you need to stop whining and keep doing it."

Well what version of JEE are you using? Compare that to writing unit tests for the version of JEE that existed when Spring was created. A lot of what makes EJBs easier to test today is because of influence by dependency injection framewor

Spring was probably born as a reaction to EJB. And if you've ever written tests for EJBs you're grateful to Spring for providing an alternative.
