I worked on the web version as well as an upcoming iPhone version of this over the summer. Check out: http://helioviewer.org/ for the web version, and http://helioviewer.org/wiki for info on other related projects.

Someone once said to "What you have, then what you want" which made ALL of these easier to remember for me. In the case of strcat/cpy I think it still follows: I have an empty string 'target' and I'd like it to be 'source'.

That was my reaction as well. I've been learning Smalltalk recently, and this seems like a really great addition to Squeak!

I carry around my copy of K&R like it's my bible. Learning C really opened up programming in general for me. I love it. Here at school though, we're never required to write pure C code. We learn C++ (as it's own class! Yuck.) and us

I've been holding on to 'isby.us' (this.isby.us etc...) for a rainy day. I've had a few thoughts, but nothing that really grabbed me yet.

It occurs to me after reading this, that I am just as much a part of the problem as all of the overly negative reviewers. I have dozens of apps that I think are quite usable, and I don't think I've submitted a good review for any of them b

I see an employer has already posted a job that seems to break the $35/hour rule. In this case a 100 in 1 iPhone Game App (including artwork!) on a $1000 budget. Which, even at 1 hour per game works out to $10/hour. What checks do you hav

Just downloaded and played a bit. Seems very nice, but I definitely think you could use some better filtering options. Search alone just isn't that great. I'd love to be able to toggle options like platform, job length, type, remote work

I think it's a matter of what kind of framework you want to be. Rails is very opinionated: Fat model, skinny controller, and use helpers or you're a fool. Django is less so: Put it here, or there... whatever you like. It really comes dow

You left out a few things that might be helpful: 1) What kind of work are you doing? Web sites? Mobile Apps? 2) What does that $1000 get you? Full time or part time, and how much of that work is completely independent? Also, if you ask me,

Working on an iPhone/iPad application that uses data from NASA's SDO/SOHO satellites to display hi-res images/movies of the sun based on 'solar events.' Sadly, no preview available yet, but the app should be out in a few weeks.

It's not exactly what you described, but close: http://www.mobilemouse.com/ I have the iPhone version, and it's pretty slick even with the wifi in between. That said, I'm still a bit miffed they didn't make it a universal app. :\

I'm an intern at NASA this summer, and I've actually convinced the team I'm working with to use Redis/Resque for the application we're working on. Unfortunately it's 'just' a web application ;)

If I could get my hands on one, I'd do it... but I can't find one nearby and they're 5-7 days online :\ It's sad to think the rest of the world is waiting (as far as developing goes).

"a simple book that describes a simple language" -- this, and this alone is worth all the praise it gets. It's one of the best books I've read as far as getting out of your way and letting you learn the language. No silliness, no wasted s

It seems that MSNBC has some sort of redirect in place for sites that refer a lot of people. I clicked on the link on their main page and got the exact link posted here, but was able to read it.

This looks like something I could finally move to from Quicksilver. I love quicksilver, but to be honest, it's simply too complex for me to feel good about. That, and the fact that it's mostly dead have me itching to switch to something.

They've just released an early version of the new UI, and it's MUCH faster and less intrusive (I think). That said, I can't really say it's all that bad when compared to most any other similar tool. Plus, SteamFriends and other things are

The karma inflation says a lot I think. There seems to be a rash of new users posting less relevant 'link-bait' stories that get voted up for being edgy/funny, but have little interest to hackers. I've noticed that i've been far less inte

This story was [dead]-ed once already since it's clearly nothing more than an ad for Rackspace Cloud. Apparently an effective one. Before you upvote, take a look at the 'story' here.
