I thought the conclusion was the weakest part. Look at the two ambiguous responses for terraforming and asking AIs for advice side by side. They’re basically form letters with opposing opinions substituted in. Contrast this to text completi

Eventually we will build a sentient AI and we’d better have our morals and attitudes figured out before then.

What a miserably sad future you dream of. I bet it revolves around one language, one culture, and one party rule.

These dark forest conjectures are getting boring. The biggest nail in the coffin for them is the statistical improbability that any intelligence we come in contact with is going to be even remotely near us in technological development. They

I think it would be beneficial to have even just ChatGPT level AI bots in virtual worlds. Getting a lot of players online in the same location is hard both network wise and socially. Bots could fill that gap especially for games. Empty VR w

People are going to use this to steal cars and scam people. It will almost certainly screw up and kill somebody at some point. No amount of new features will ever convince me to buy a car that does this but the people who do buy them will u

That’s a cartoon depiction of censorship. You can censor by editing or omitting text as well. The black bar would actually be preferable because it would clearly indicate that there was content there before and that someone had censored it.

You’d have to assume a conspiracy among all historians both amateur and professional for that cliche to be true. The people that write history are humans and they all behave and believe in different ways. You’ll never find an unbiased versi

It seems to me that a lot of everyday communication is rather statistical in nature. We don’t necessarily think deeply about each word choice but instead fall back on well worn patterns and habits. We can be more deliberate about how we com

So what happens if these interested parties see a lot of success and want to do even better? India and the Middle East are quite hot, it would be a nicer climate if they cooled it down by a few degrees. What would that do to North America,

Covering a parking lot with anything let alone solar panels that require lots of electrical connections is not a simple job. Think of all the supporting posts and beams, footings that will take up space, wind load considerations, etc.
