I'm pretty sure this would look kind of weird under xrays. They probably see thousands of cables and it'd be pretty easy to spot the difference.

I agree that legal confusion is an issue usually with ancient trademark laws and people judging technology-related matters who still double click hyperlinks, but this is sort of hilariously dumb: > "At Teespring (now Spring) we hav

A contract is consent in both ways. Most people have not consented neither explicitly nor tacitly to any of this. I understand what the term means, but most people seem to stick with the enlightenment-age definition while in reality what we

While that may be true (and I'm sort of disappointed to find this out), I don't think there's any server _at all_ that I'd trust if I'm worried about certain governments snooping in on my email. That level of commun

TIL Fastmail is an Australian company. I wonder if this bill applies to data hosted outside of Australia for international clients by a company based in Australia? I'd really like to know what they have to say about this.

Over the past two years, Australian and New Zealand's governments have become great examples of how statism can take over so quickly. As an outsider, I feel really sad for people in Australia and New Zealand.

While I agree with you, unfortunatley that is still technically considered the tech-savvy crowd, amongst others at least.

The fact that it's so low (yes imo 58 is pretty low) speaks volumes to the attitudes of the "tech-savvy crowd" towards tracking and data mining.

It's not the support that I find appalling, this is fine in a free-speech society, but the issue i have with modern HN is that any sort criticism of censorship as an act regardless of the content or who's the person on the receivi

Not to be that guy, but a very small percentage of people might get lucky to get an opportunity at something, not to keep it. Time and time again I've found that what people refer to as luck (aside from inheritance or lottery) is sheer

Totally agreed with this. I do turn on dark mode from time to time (when reading longish text or code in a dark env) but I absolutely hate defaulting to dark mode. Worked in a couple of gardens over the last year and on my laptop screen it

That's a pretty naive and reductive way to describe the situation. The relationship between early al qaeda days and various US agencies who armed and trained them is very well established.
