ffmpeg is the only program where I want to see visual no-code applied But now I'm seeking a --chatgpt option similar to --help so I can navigate any man page.

I really don't understand how snaps can compete with flatpak. Flatseal makes this such a great experience. Ubuntu consistently backs the wrong horse.

Not kidding, the future should be Fedora Silverblue layered on top of Fedora CoreOS. Immutable Linux is the future, and extending existing images is how they should be layering for each Fedora... flavor :)

GNOME vs KDE race to HDR, VRR, and Wayland-only. :-) I am here for this.

Gnome is so much better than what I remember in 2005. I've also grown up a little, and my internet connection is much faster. Yes, XFCE plays nicer on lighter hardware but I'm very happy with less sprawling dependencies and the

I agree. You don't dispense vitriol, but people are way more willing to follow instructions from a perceived leader than we tend to believe. It's not worth splitting hairs to finaggle every word to sound delicate and kind. If y

As a naive outsider: Does RAM in 2023 encrypt all its contents? Can we reliably "forget" the contents of what's in RAM by powering-off and letting some encryption key somewhere fade from a smaller, more volatile piece of memo

I don't know why your comment is being invalidated. Even in the best of cases when we try to protect wildlife preserves, there is undoubtedly collateral damage, and it ebbs over 40-90 years.

HBO Max to Max is the stupidest rebranding in terms of quality change. Twitter to X is the stupidest rebranding in terms of market valuation.

Although I use Firefox, I will dutifully mention that Brave seems to be the best of all of them. I initially thought Brave was about seeing ads and earning crypto. Turns out this is something you opt-into. It goes much further than ungoo

Really I have the most trouble with getting a high-end GPU and high resolution screen on an AMD laptop. Framework is great, but doesn't offer what I'm looking for. Need me some 2160p or 2400p @ 120hz OLED. I'm often in hote

We really signed our death sentence 20+ years ago. Californians won't have the attention span or the conviction to undo it with a phased or abrupt approach. We'll just have this unequal footing... forever

Anyone that can reliably and off-the-cuff do all of these can have complete control back: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Compiler_optimization... Otherwise we should trust compilers to know better.

I feel like Rust finally broke the idea that programmers should be in complete control and completely conscious of everything the compiler is doing. It hasn't been that way in decades, compilers are freaking magic. But Rust undid a l
