As an EE whose made many ASICs, this has to be the best introduction to digital ASIC design for the general public that I've ever seen. Definitely worth watching.

Maybe you could ask the LLMs to stub out whatever you consider fun leaving you with a LeetCode style problem to solve. I could see that being fun. I actually really like LeetCode in the same way some people like doing Sunday crossword puz

I could never relate to the programmers who wrote code for the sake of writing code. I write a lot of code, but for me the code is a means, not an end. So I look at tools like LLMs as just the latest incarnation of tools to reduce the numb

I’d say it doesn’t really matter. There is no universally good benchmark and really they should only be used to answer very specific questions which may or may not be relevant to you. Also, as the old saying goes, the only thing worse than

I usually use this idea to show that 0.999 is not less than 1 (or more simply, there is no nonzero number you can add to 0.999 to make it 1), then because it’s not greater than 1, and there are only three possibilities (>,<,=) they mu

And there is some significant evidence that it is not true. Think about training soldiers and the concept of “non-firers”. I’m not an expert on those things but the fact that training soldiers to kill is hard, and no one has a great soluti

In what year did you get your first job as a programmer? I think it was not all that rare in the 80s and 90s for self taught programmers to get decent roles. And once you had more than, say five years, paid experience you were considered e

My problem is I mostly agree with the piece, it's very possible to live cheaply when everything goes smoothly and most things are routine. The problem is things very often don't go smoothly, especially once you have a family. For

We’re all going to have different paths but I’m certain that flunking CS education and then getting 10x the average salary is not going to be the common case and was probably only possible for a given point in time. I’m in my late 40s. I l

The interviewer might be looking to see how you deal with bad specifications which, in my experience, are also often confusingly worded, vague and/or conflicting.

I guess it boils down to this. Earlier in the thread people were saying removing lidar was bad becuase multiple sensors types is good, presuming the camera stay either way, and one is not replacing camera with radar. I agree with this. It

Does that mean a Tesla only has one camera? If not, you're dealing with "multiple independent sensor streams" regardless.
