It was natural at the beginning. Of course once you realize how awesome it is, you try to do it as much as possible. For me this was mostly learning how to recognize the dream state and how to manipulate it without waking myself up. I'

I used to lucid dream a lot. Probably the most wonderful experiences of my life. I did everything you could think of. Flying, visit impossible places, superhero, wreck stuff, bang movie stars, deepest oceans, space. Sometimes you get into a

Rust benefits from optimizations in LLVM, same compiler chrome uses. You are right that they might be missing some hand optimized ASM for some routines, but I don't think that's enough that performance would be a lot worse.

Oh God I hate the animations! Sometimes I wonder if "UI designers" are a net negative on many projects. Most software is functional machinery, not art. It's important for sales pages and ads to be pretty. Web apps just need t

JS is faster than scripting languages, but slow for a VM based language. The NPM way is to pull in thousands of dependencies, when running code only uses a small fraction. I disagree that the code written is slower than in the past. There&#

If building stuff is an option, 14 days might not be so bad. You can store heat as heat, cooling as ice. They already need a huge water supply, why not freeze it for cooling? Another option, unique to the moon. Why not just run wires to the

I've read you can train yourself to be decent. It would be interesting to use output from facial recognition software as "flashcards" for yourself. Look at it like recognizing stuff like cars and watches. Somebody really into

> Now that I think of it, the push for more and more Electron apps may be because all devs are living comfortably on 16GB and 32GB devices, where the voracious RAM appetite of Electron does not matter. IMO its generally the JS hype produ

What is this user doing lol? I've run Linux on an absolutely ancient Thinkpad because we had some stuff in the field that needed serial/parallel port for comms. It ran fine as long as you didn't have 10 tabs open. And Slack h

We desperately need a standardized open source phone. The raspberry pi of phones. Linux may be a better platform than AOSP. Android and iOS were designed for control first. Control over apps, control over the store, over what users are allo

I think they decided it was unnecessary. They slurp up contacts, emails, location data, search, pictures. Everything you would get from a social network they already have, just from disparate sources.

Just so you know... Google Photos is full of dark patterns. For example there's no way to mass delete pictures. It simply doesn't exist. There's a janky browser script on GitHub that you inject into the page to delete your ph

You're not testing against facial recognition models. "similar image" search generally uses "perceptual hashing" which is not related to facial recognition, and not really a privacy risk. You're not testing aga
