This is the real question, I would like to see VCs here commenting on investments they made that were not through their network.

In what year though? I feel like a lot of VC's have adopted this trend of forcing you to befriend random people they have funded before, to introduce you in. Not because it is actually a good method, but because they saw a few popular

Extremely interested in an answer to this. I've tried many of the things that people recommend and while I don't have any hand injuries from typing yet, I would like to avoid them. The suggestions that people typically recommend d

They won't see another penny from me. I assume a large amount of people will feel the same. Can't wait for Stallmans next project, I will be donating to that instead.

It is just a desire for time optimization. I would love to get the same satisfaction that I get from sitting and thinking deeply about every sentence of a complicated or nuanced text, in less time without loss of bandwidth. If I could read

This is an absolutely incorrect and unrealistic estimation for the majority of the people waiting tables. I started writing up a long thing calculating this out and stopped myself. I am going to assume you are commenting in good faith, so I

You know what would be 10x as useful as this AND account for survivorship bias? If you did this same format but instead only talking to founders who failed one or even multiple times before eventually getting in. Then they could compare and

I don't know if it is just me but pieces like this just make me angry at the culture that surrounds SV. It makes me feel sick to my stomach to read this kind of thing even if they are trying to be tongue and cheek about it.

I've gotten offers from places like this, the pay deduction is staggering. If I got an offer that paid even the median of what I can make on the coasts, in a place like upstate New York I would get out of the coasts in a heartbeat and

It is actually kind of funny, I know what deconstruction is, and I would call the two quoted paragraphs pretty clear. They don't do a horrible job of describing what it is. I think it just takes being steeped in the jargon of the field

I had a professor at university who acted that way about Agile. He thought he was literally Uncle Bob incarnate. But when you looked at his credentials, he had never once worked in a real production environment, he had only ever taught.
