Madness tends to happen during wars. Look at the final months of Nazi Germany or Tsarist Russia.

Surface ships are just floating targets anyway. Nations like the U.S. and China will go to war with nuclear submarines shooting thermonuclear tipped ICBMs at each other's cities or not at all.

When I use Blueprint, I like to add a "colborder-left" and "border-left" class (which isn't hard).

Oh no, mild misogynism. What would my kindergarten teacher say? Groups differ. If you can't deal with people noting imperfections with the opposite gender, then close your ears.

Where? On their site, I see some Ubuntu packages which would probably work. But once I get to the point of "probably work", I might as well install the gem version.

I'm more than a little impressed with Passenger. It didn't exactly adhere to Debian conventions, but it's new and nothing in Ruby-land does. Regardless, it was a breeze to set up, and seems to be running great. It looks like a lot of effort

Stereotypes don't happen by accident. Yes, everybody already knows about exceptions. My kindergarten teach spent a godawful long time on the subject, eh?

Well, I thought that the cornerstone quote of the article was this: "Deep technical competency is overrated compared with the ability to make excellent decisions and to create a culture where forward motion is valued and personal initiative

Oh, I agree with the exception statement. That sort of shoe-horning is exactly what goes on when you REST up a rich web-app. But how does it simplify anything?

The problem is that REST only makes sense when your UI is all about data entry. Sure, it's great there. You update things, you create things, you delete things, you replace things. Wonderful stuff. But as soon as your application steps beyo

To quote scripture: "Hast thou seen a man speedy in his business? Before kings he doth station himself, He stations not himself before obscure men!" Modern paraphrase: Even Obama gets to put up with this guy's shit.

Use REST because it's a convention. As far as I can tell, there is no other earthly reason to use it. It certainly doesn't simplify the coding of web applications. In fact, REST barely exists in the Django world. The problem that Rails solv

Some people are worth 10 average people (some people are worth 100). If you want your startup to outcompete, you need them. You may have to put up with some amount of shit, but hiring talent is a non-negotiable requirement for business succ

That's exactly what the author is not saying. The other frameworks were better for them, he says. They didn't like Rails. But Rails has the most industry and community support. And since nobody plans to write all the code themselves, that m

Only they don't, because when you measure it, you can predict 80% (studies differ on the exact number) of IQ from parent's IQ. The rest is mainly unshared environment (what we don't know how to fix).

Okay, you have a hypothesis. It seems a little unlikely, but I agree that it could be true. Now, let's get to the proof side of things. What evidence makes you think this is a good explanation for the range of phenomena that you see? What e

I think that's an absolutely fair comment (as opposed to your "must be the water" brush-off). Now, if you'd also be willing to end chain-migration, I would be all for your proposal as the best solution.
