Borland's VCL was a great achievement that brought some much needed cohesiveness and sanity to Win32 development in a way that Microsoft was never able to do. I've always found it interesting that OpenStep/Cocoa and VCL were

It's worth noting that at this point in history (2001) Mac OS X is still a turkey; visually unique, but very slow and incomplete. It would have only been of interest to the freaks and geeks in the Unix/OpenStep community. I can

The Swift naming convention makes it more difficult to learn, discover, and use large, complex APIs like AppKit and UIKit, so I'll often revert back to Objective-C when writing AppKit (and to a lesser extent, UIKit) when given the choi

This would have been a re-badged version of OpenStep, then named Rhapsody, well before OS X roadmap was plotted out, let alone released. NextStep/OpenStep had support for x86 since 1994, so it was all ready to go if Dell wanted to play

This technology was developed in the 1970s. So, if you want to record 60 minutes of CD-quality digital audio you need about 600 MB of raw data storage. In the 1970s this was an impossible amount of data. 600 MB of hard drive space would c
