+1 for this, from a technical standpoint. Unfortunately there's just not a lot of interest in it (for end-to-end use, not just mobile). But some people who use it swear by it.

Isn't it mostly aimed at C/C++/Rust right now?

> I know Dart's original vision was to replace JS but it seems they backed off that a bit. More than "a bit" - replacing JS hasn't been the goal for several years now.

I hate AP as a protocol, but also I'd still rather use it than try to invent a new one that wouldn't get a lot of traction (though I guess if you're a big corp, there will always be traction).

If you're an open-source maintainer and either don't have a team, have a niche to small, are receiving zero compensation for the work, or some combination of those things, at this point in my life I believe it's best to eithe

> Eventually somebody is going to ship a product that's nothing more than a browser implemented in WASM that runs inside your browser Sounds like a slippery slope to me. What makes you think users will be satisfied with load times

Awesome work. I have great respect for anyone who has the patience/discipline to write an entire parser in C or C++. The language looks cool too, and could (probably?) host itself pretty easily.

I don’t see how that would be a problem, if each app didn’t have to bundle a browser, and could instead just use the system.

I don't think you would need Electron in the situation OP is describing... > Just the frontend and window server would be HTML5 only and embrace modern web technologies.

Oh wow, that's pretty cool, wish I had known about it before. Unfortunately flex and bison, when used together in C++, cause a lot of headache (unless you create an "adapter" class that wraps your Flex parser and pass that to

You don't need to be on a VPN, just make a new account, set a profile picture and bio, and it'll be locked if you don't have a phone.

Yet out of those, which actually implement the full spec (server-to-server, not to mention client-to-server, though I do think I remember reading that Pleroma has it), or even if they implement parts of it, do it in a compliant way? I would

I love the idea of ActivityPub, but in practice, I think the very complex protocol, which is built on top of JSON-LD (I still don't understand why) of all things, and accepts variable structures for many, if not most fields, which make

This is definitely true to an extent. However, NoScript allows you to whitelist domains, or temporarily "allow all" for a site. Sometimes it takes a little bit of trial and error, but for most sites, you can get full functionality

As far I can tell, this is only really the attitude in the Western world. Most of my relatives live in Nigeria, and all of them use Facebook a lot. And at that, there are still many people in the US who mainly use Facebook, especially Gen X

Yes, primarily music, media, social media, mostly interactive experience. I should have been a bit more clear about "sharing/receiving information," or rather, reworded it as "viewing static documents."

Most excited about the native file system API. Oh, how I would love to have a DAW like Reaper, or a (significantly lighter-weight) iMovie in the browser.

I'm a bit conflicted. I like the idea of Web browsers as an application platform, though it borders on "reinventing the operating system." The File API, Notifications API, MediaSession, etc. all make it possible to essentiall

IMO, the most important Vim keystrokes for editing code are: * %, which lets you hop back and forth between ()/{} pairs. Extremely useful when working with, say, Flutter. * F/f/T/t (and ;/,), which let you jump to a
