This is actually how I code for the most part. I comment out and indent the general structure of the algorithms/structures without the literal code and then when that's done I go back and add the actual language syntax, types, lookups, etc

Please just add tree-style tabs feature to Firefox (and Chrome). This is a stellar way to handle tabs on modern wide monitors. It's much, much easier to scan a list than it is to scan a bunch of icons, page images, or (as today) trying to s

This is from 2009-- I guess the relevance again is the TED talk reported this week? http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2010-07/13/peter-molyneu... The Microsoft product for interacting with Milo is now called Kinect as of E3 2010: http

My default back behavior is right-click, click Back (since I use many different machines where I can't change a mouse button). This has just become a default gesture for me.

Teenagers/college students do this sometimes out of boredom or for the minor thrill of being sneaky. I've never seen it as an out-of-control practice in the U.S., but it happens in almost every movie theater. I've seen people do swaps when

A friend of mine who works at Mozilla showed me this some time ago. While I like to see the innovation and spirit (as always with Aza's work), Here I think they overshot and made the problem somewhat more complicated than it needs to be. I

When I saw the title of the blog I misread and was so excited-- thinking they finally came to their senses and were building in something like Tree-Style Tabs. It makes me so much more productive and able to coordinate so many different tab

Quite clunky, but I've used it a lot-- hard to beat "free". For pay versions, I have to second GoToMeeting-- it's pretty solid.

I respect your opinion as much as anyone here. Still, I wish there was anything I could say to get a little of the negative tone off of your security advice sometimes. (You're much better than bad ivory tower security experts I've worked wi

When I heard about this long ago, I assumed it was just a mechanism they used to remotely monitor some equipment was still running without having to have staff on premises there. Probably remotely detecting power outage or damage was precis

Well, it has a lot of uses. For developers that are new to a largish code base, it can help them ensure they don't break important subsets (as would any good unit testing strategy). But also it proves to be quite handy when you have a reall

Ok, I give up. How do I get the style editor to work like Firebug so I can test/tweak styles on the fly? I'd assume you wouldn't be advocating this if it has a read-only style inspector, so where am I missing a way to modify those? The live

Agreed. Tree-style tabs is just too dreamy. Though I do find myself bringing up Chrome for things like Wave, so I have Firefox up for day-to-day research/etc, and Chrome for quick things and high-JS web apps.

On my 2 year old laptop on Vista + Chrome 5beta, it runs just as fast as it did when I played it sitting at a TV screen eons ago. It's really quite impressive. ... or, rather, it's really quite depressing once you realize this is 25-year-ol
