That's not very fair. "Worthwhile" can be judged in lots of ways. I agree that math and economics are very practical, but that doesn't mean philosophy is without value. I was a very interested in philosophy in college, and if I had chosen a

Well, I wouldn't worry about share price so much as their overall worth. It's heavily reflected there, though: Netflix ($1.8 billion) has nearly four times the market capitalization of Blockbuster ($472 million). The fact that the CEO is co

As much as I love hearing feedback (thanks!), I don't really want to get a side thread going about our site in this other team's thread. Not really fair to them. As briefly as I can: The Firefox extension allows anonymous search/contributio

I like the idea! I like it so much that our startup last year targetted the same general audience with a custom error search engine: http://bug.gd http://bug.gd/info/faq We've only grabbed error codes where we can find/recommend a solut

We're actually looking at doing some BOSS-optimized searches on one of our sites, too. Really enjoy using the API so far. Y! gets a lot of points in my book for trying this out. If you can't be the #1 search engine, get a piece of all the l

Likewise. Their version of Active Record isn't the same as those from other frameworks, but we use the built-in one from Code Igniter. There's another floating around that's closer to the RoR style.

Which makes me wonder if we're going to see something crazy: What if Apple's new announcement this year will be a lower-priced Mac notebook with built-in 3G-- price-subsidized by carriers to make it feel more competitive? How many of you wo

I disagree a lot on the relevancy of prices. When you're a startup or a family looking to buy a handful of machines, the extra $800 adds up quickly to cut in half (roughly) the number of machines you can afford. Do I get a Mac for me or do

Really needs a quick way to get your friends in the room. Should actually be very visible and very easy to get them in that room chatting with you. Perhaps an obviously marked URL to copy/paste or something like that?

Well, to be fair, non-blog businesses don't often make exits either. There have been a more interesting blog "exits" lately than I would have expected, so it's harder to write them off for trying.

We had simply an amazingly good experience at 99designs. Got 138 different logo revisions (maybe 40-50 different concepts) for ~$400 (we offered first and second prize). There were literally dozens that were good enough to use.

Well, aside from cross-blog publishing, I see a lot of benefit to announcing a blog post on Twitter and also store the photo over on Flickr. Those seem like no-brainer features that would be appealing to a lot of people.
