That particular comment made me walk away thinking he was rather jerkish. I didn't know who he was at the time of tuning in live, but there's about 10 different ways to say that without making the poor startup guy feel like a humiliated los

Windows Home Server actually uses a duplication scheme that makes sure all your machine backups (and shared folders) are stored, in full, on more than one drive on the server. It behaves pretty much like one big drive and duplicates across

Some of the demopit companies are good ideas. For example, this is the first I had hard of www.expensify.com: http://www.techcrunch50.com/2008/conference/demopit_company.... Probably a number of gems in there.

SB is more like IM. With this addon you don't have to share anything at all if you don't want. It's just a single button-click to do so, though, for any site you like. It just makes it easier to send it than email if your friends are also o

I love it because it can upload to my own FTP and paste links from my own site which is often faster than screencast.com for my audience. Startup time really sucks, though. But once it's running, I'm super, super pleased with it.

Well, not sure I'm ringing the bells yet. I think as people play with it, they'll see there's still a long way to go. The biggest is that it doesn't do extensions yet. It doesn't The first focus sounds like it will be the Flash engines of t

I think when he said "It's hailed as brilliant because it's open, but it's poorly implemented to a fault" he was talking about OpenID, not Clickpass specifically.

Well, I see it differently. I think some sites need to require it so that we can discuss how much we dislike that. Better an early-adopter developer forum than GMail.

To clarify for non-Pythoners/non-coders: If you assume "nums" already contains the list, most of his code above is setup. You only need these two lines of his code to get the answer: import operator answer = reduce(operator.xor, nums)

I agree wholeheartedly. Definitely a bully sort-of post for no good reason. Reminds me a bit of the sort of chip-on-their-shoulder hackers that aren't very fun to work with. I think it's fine for people to offer constructive criticism to th

First thing that came to mind for me (just assuming there was needed a practical way to do it) was the following (translated into Python): # associative array / dict / hash store = {} for elem in inputlist: if elem in store:

We have a site in the pipeline targeting health-related topics, but nothing that would interface with the Health Industry directly. I also have Kurzweilian dreams for other ventures, but the regulations are so daunting that it's so hard to

I have my beefs with Mozilla, but to say they aren't focusing on code is crazy. The stuff they're doing (especially with the native JS compilation) is very difficult stuff that honestly has a chance to change all browsers for good. I have g
