Good luck. I was just getting back into regularly reading a couple years ago. Tried for 1/month. Then it was 1-2. Now it's 3-4. Feels great - although I have to remind myself that it's okay if I don't reach some sort of

I read a lot this year, so I'll just point out some highlights: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante - The highlight of the year. I'm now partially through the 3rd book in the series. And amazing portrait of the friendship betwee

Reading "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" was such a disappointment to me because I loved the movie so much. I would like to revisit it - maybe I would understand the parts about the empathy boxes and the wife's mood thi

That's what happened with me on Mint. I appreciate how quickly I can re-install Linux and get everything back to how I want it, but I want that to be by choice not by design.

That episode was so amazing. And that's coming from someone who really disagrees with those hunters. Radiolab did a phenomenal job of giving them a chance to show their side of the story, and I think it's a shame that so many peop

The purpose of the show would be to try to tell the story as fully as they can. The first season did not present itself as a way to exonerate Syed, but rather an attempt to explore the case. I think it's a good choice to switch to a mo

No, it is not the same thing. A private foundation can continue to be a part of the solution without it being the focus. Krämer's (I checked the name!) point is that the focus in the US is private donations which means that the billion

I wish I knew the answer. But a change coming through the electorate process should have a more lasting effect as simply boycotting Facebook would merely shift the wealth and influence to another person instead of Zuckerberg.

You are correct in that the current state of US politics almost makes it the same thing. However it is possible that the US electorate could fix that problem over time.

Because neither the article nor the German billionaire (sorry, I really should go back and get his name instead of referencing the title, but I'm being lazy) are saying that private foundations are inherently bad - which is what the co

That's not what the article said at all - nor the German billionaire. He said that having a few very wealthy people decide what were the most important causes was bad compared to having the democratically elected government decide. You

All I can say is that I and my friends in the NYC and Philly region working (mostly) in pharmaceutical and financial industries do not generally experience this. But obviously that would be anecdotal.

Yes, it's a shame that they went for sensationalism. I really wish the Blair Witch Project had worked (for me) because it was an excellent idea. Unfortunately it just came out as sloppy, amateurish, and boring. The "big reveal&quo

I don't know true classic horror, but would absolutely suggest John Carpenter's Halloween and The Thing as starting points. I still view them as two of the greatest I've ever seen. I would also put Alien up there (horror/

Even for that, can't you just rip the disk to files (as a VIDEO_TS directory)? I believe Plex handles that, but I could be wrong. Not trying to be a dick, just always interested in how other people handle media and what works best for
