Fun fact: the author can ask for a particular animal, but it’s not guaranteed. When we were working on our Ember.ha book we–naturallly–asked if we could get a hamster on the cover. They weren’t sure they’d be able to influence the art chose

My personal experience—I've done it about 4 times. The first time was pretty incredible. Not OBE or anything, but it was one of the few times I've experienced the detachment from self I hear regular meditators talk about so much.

Isn’t this working by finding someone else’s solution to the day 1 challenge? As in, since the OP copied and pasted the prompt, it was relatively easy for Copilot to match to the correct solution (also how it knew the window size for the se

TL;DR: iPhone 13 Pro fell out of my pocket while tubing down a river. Scuba diver recovered it 26 hours later, and it's in nearly perfect condition.

I really don't mean to be rude, but I'm struggling to understand what I'm looking at and how it got near the top of HN. It looks like a very basic stub project that uses a web library (vweb) to serve a very basic web site th

Stevey, I’m not sure what your aim was in posting this here, but you’ve set a trap that will catch all kinds of feedback (including mine!). You’ll hear people say “this game sucks!” Some would say to ignore the haters. I’d say learn from th

I'm also not quite sure what I'm looking at, but hn_expanscape seems to be serious about this, so I'll bite. hn_expanscape, what is the actual use-case for this device? You mention day-traders, but what about tiny screens sli

The Screeps detail seems like something that could be fairly easily pursued... there can't have been that many players of that game to begin with, let alone those that would care so much about it that they would journal their thoughts

Reading through the challenges, the last one seemed like a big leap. Made me think of the “learn to draw” meme that progresses quickly from simple shapes to a simple cartoon and a god leap to a super realistically rendered pencil drawing.

Sounds like a good time to use shadow DOM, perhaps. That could isolate your IDs… although it would complicate the style cascade...

Also, that assumes a platform, no? This wouldn't build on Mac/Linux/Unix machines, without a Mono setup, would it?

Something that seems to always be missing from project pages like this: why? There are plenty of other similar projects that accomplish this, and in the case of the microbit, I can’t even tell the difference between your IDE and the one tha

For those curious about icon fonts versus SVG, though icon fonts can be easier for the developer to use, there are drawbacks for your users (especially in accessibility). But don’t take my word for it: https://css-tricks.com/

I used to work a a Bible software company, many, many years ago, and had to write a similar API. The surprise challenge I ran into, as that API was meant to support multiple translations, was that they don’t all agree on where chapters and

This is a very complex topic that’s been studied and discussed for decades. Further study and discussion is great, but this article didn’t add much beyond some opinion. The author misses half the concern of button layout: target acquisition
