one way to prevent the accident during a downtime panic at 2am is to NEVER be in the habit of doing it anyway. If you never put credentials in your code, then even during panic mode you won't do it.

The KCL itself handles shard assignment and balancing. Each application has its own dynamodb table where it stores lease information. If you have 64 shards and want that processed on one machine? Spin up one instance of the application. The
