> How important is it to be using SOTA? I believe in using the best model for each use case. Since I’m paying for it, I like to find out which model is the best bang for my buck. The problem is that, even when comparing models according

It’s been hard to keep up with the evolution in LLMs. SOTA models basically change every other week, and each of them has its own quirks. Differences in features, personality, output formatting, UI, safety filters… make it nearly impossible

I think the idea that LLMs are incentivized to write verbose code fails when one considers non-API usage. Like you, I’ve accumulated tons of LLM usage via apps and web apps. I can actually see how the models are much more succinct there com

Oh, I didn’t mean to say that these models were unavailable through the app or website. Rather, I’ve realized that using them through the API or AI Studio yields much better results — even in the free tier. You can check that by trying prom

That does work in Google’s favor. Users who are technical enough to want a better model eventually learn about AI Studio, while the rest are none the wiser.

I find it baffling that Google offers such impressive models through the API and even the free AI Studio with fine-grained control, yet the models used in the Gemini app feel much worse. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been using Gemini Advan

I'd love if tools like this one were available for non-API users as well, even if we had to be rate limited at some point. But I guess OpenAI will never do it because it incentivizes people to use the ChatGPT subscriptions as a gateway

That’s such a petty move by the U.S. government. I hadn’t heard about this library before, but it seems something so innocent and devoid of problems that I wonder why the government bothered to mess with it.

It bothers me that many devices are so easily remotely bricked and that keeping them offline is the only way to avoid such issues. Automated updates were supposed to give us peace of mind instead of having us worried about what bug or enshi

The change makes me question the authenticity of the text. I mean, did the author actually read files from top to bottom, or did he just write that because it suited his narrative? That’s a trivial change to make for a line that did not rec

99% of humans who make content for Meta’s platforms receive no revenue from them. In fact, some of them actually pay the platforms for greater reach. Even without AI personas, Meta can surely have its cake and eat it too.

Even worse: if you send the PDF back to the Scribe, all previously-written notes are uneditable. It seems note taking is treated more like an afterthought. Of course, this means I only use my Scribe as a scratchpad for disposable notes.
