When you read some source code to learn how to do anything, do you attribute it? It’s the same thing, attribution doesn’t apply to training material. You want to explicitly forbid AI training, not require attribution.

If you're concerned, you should switch the license of your code, not really where you host it. As long as your license allows LLM/AI models to train on your code, why would you be mad that it does?

Then use a license that say your code can't be used to train AI models. Honestly I agree that in the current state of things, it's fair for them to train on public data as long as the license doesn't forbid it. I learned to c

I actually love Notion. I’ve used dozens note taking app and Notion is the only one I managed to stick with because of its flexibility and general aesthetic. Its block system is amazing.

I won't pay for Youtube, ever, because even if I pay, I still get sponsored segments in videos. To skip these, I have to get SponsorBlock so I might as well block ads too. Maybe if Youtube Premium also gave access to the same videos wi

We have a repo with migrations written in SQL, and we use tern[1] to apply them. I’m not sure anything more complex is needed. I tried using Liquibase at some point and it was a nightmare compared to just using SQL. [1]: https://

They’re extensions, nothing prevents you from reimplementing proprietary extensions as open source packages. As a matter of fact, there’s probably an oss alternative for each proprietary extension already. Maybe it’s not on par with the pro

What if I told you you're not the only user on the internet? Discord crushed IRC in popularity because it offers people what they want. Simple as that.

Yeah, not having proper nickname ownership beyond the crap NickServ offers is not a feature, it's a gross overlook from a time where we could afford to be naive on the internet. And considering multiline messages as "bloat" i

It’s not debatable that Matrix is better than IRC. The IRC clients are mostly bad and ugly, and they don’t even implement basic formatting features (bold, italic) in the same way. NickServ sucks. Having to use bouncers to keep track of hist

Come on, IRC doesn’t even begin to address the needs of today. It sucks in many ways. A better suggestion is to use Matrix/Element, Mattermost or RocketChat. Not IRC or XMPP.

I think that’s just what you’re used to. Since I switched from Java to Go 7 years ago, I don’t think I’ve missed inheritance a single time. I haven’t needed to model anything with inheritance once. There are definitely things I’ve missed fr

Tools written in Rust (or Go for that matter) generally offer an extremely good user experience: good documentation, well organized CLIs with autocompletion, great performance, easy to install… If I can, I always try to install the Rust or

But you wouldn’t use a key value data store as your main store. It’s a specialized kind of store. Of course Redis and friends have their place. Just not as a main store.

Postgres is not hype though. There's very few legitimate use cases for not using a RDBMS as a main data store, and Postgres happens to be the most popular nowadays, for good reasons.

This is my take on writing as well, I consider everything in parentheses as optional. If I want to write something in parentheses, I try to reconsider: either drop it, or write it without parentheses.
