I don’t think it matter that the 28k are paid by the employer and not from the 60k salary. Perhaps this person could be making 88k instead? Also, while you’re inbetween jobs, health care still costs 28k.

I don’t see an issue with that. I don’t want to pay for other people’s packages.

I think it’s a legitimate licensing concern. I’m surprised you called it FUD, given the high-profile case against Android (google). I was about to recommend we try it at my company and gave up as soon as I read “Oracle” in the company name.

Cars need to pay tax to be on public roads, which then is used for maintenance costs. These bikes are using public land for free.

This has become a nightmare in Sydney. I see broken bikes everywhere, in piles, up fences, down in canals. I’m hoping for regulation to come soon.

Returning the bikes to a dock is a benefit to everyone else in the city. A dock is always placed in a location agreed by the council. It’s guaranteed to not be in anyone’s way or a safety hazard. Maybe the dockless users in your city are mo

Having experienced the mess caused by dockless bikes in my city, Sydney, I wish we would ban them too.

I am in the city of Sydney, where no less than 4 dockless bike rental companies started operating overnight. They have become urban clutter. Users park them in locations where they’re easily knocked over and, from there, they usually get da

I find it hard to take this article without a truckload of salt, given the Wall Street Journal is owned by News Corp. Murdoch has money to make by gaining leverage over FB. I haven’t had a Facebook account in almost 4 years and I block thei

This Hitchens quote is so relevant right now: “Whenever I hear some bigmouth in Washington or the Christian heartland banging on about the evils of sodomy or whatever, I mentally enter his name in my notebook and contentedly set my watch. S

It’s nice not having to deal with languages other than English. In Portuguese, which I’ve worked with, you develop other tricks, like replacing à, á, â or ã with a. But, in order to do this, you still need to find out the encoding used befo

I don't understand why a backup service would need to setup regional infrastructure. It's not sensitive to latency, the bandwidth costs the same and it adds management overhead.
