I believe that’s because every team was tasked with auditing their own features to find and fix slow/expensive database queries. https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/epics/5675

I’m not sure where the “trash” comment comes from but you can check for yourself the engineer:manager ratio: https://about.gitlab.com/company/team/org-chart/ . It’s not 6:1. (Disclaimer: am engineering manager

Tell me about it! Outside of green leaves, it was tough to find low-carb vegetarian foods that don’t leave you hungry. Cauliflower is one of them.

Other Latins might not have been so impressed. This is exactly what we call it in Portuguese: a parabolic antenna (antena parabólica).

My horror in reading this is that I, a male engineer, have probably been the Dick at some point in my career.

Run a dockerized or VM controller (so you don't need CloudKey or Dream Machine) and pin the version; I'm running 6.0.43 and don't see any ads. Also make sure you find the option to install using a local account (not available

I've been considering my options to replace the Unifi controller if things get much worse and OPNsense + some terraform magic sounds like a great option. What do you use to synchronise the APs and switch configuration? I'm talking

I recently purchased switches, wireless access points and cameras for a new home-office setup. I was looking at going full Ubiquiti because the dream machine (UDM) comes with a network video recorder (NVR) that looked quite good in comparis

The imperial units used in the calculations made my brain hurt. On a positive note, I suspect Americans are a lot more proficient with fractions than people who grew up learning metric.

This could’ve gone smoother if you didn’t give them a reason. When you tell them you have a problem with distraction, I can’t blame them for offering you a solution. You rejected their solution but I don’t blame them for offering you one. I

And I made a presumptuous comment in another thread about the irony of the author getting it wrong. Whether that’s you or not, I apologise. I shall leave my shame there, as a reminder to myself.

It’s incredibly ironic that the author also misspelled Hans de Zwart’s name as De Zwart, just like Facebook did.

Are you saying you don’t know what the negatives are or have they not become self-evident yet? I think there are immediate negatives, like collaboration, synchronous decision-making. I wonder what the long-term ones are.

This reminds me of Click for Python in that the CLI is built based on the functions that describe the commands and arguments. Click uses decorators though. I don’t know what the C++ equivalent could be.
