> There’s really no viable platform anymore where you can just go passively keep up with what friends and acquaintances are doing. IMO it’s pointless to “passively keep up with what friends and acquaintances are doing”. We should either

This sounds extremely up my alley and I've often daydreamed about implementing something like this myself. Can you share more about your implementation?

I grew up in NYC, in an even worse apartment. Despite no longer having family there, I would return in a heartbeat. I loved it and wish I could raise my kid there (in a better apartment, mind you)

100% this. I struggle with this too. But I also know I'm low enough on the corporate ladder (senior dev! not even junior!) to know it pretty much is all irrelevant to my day-to-day work, so I show up, tune out, bill the time (and eat t

I will trust any CSS content from Ahmad Shadeed, I am continually impressed and I've been developing CSS my whole career.

I think that's spot on. Curious, is there anything else about your needs pushing you towards ArcGIS rather than, say, QGIS?

I’ve worked with devs whose first instinct is to whip out React for this use case. It really makes me question their skills.

I can relate to this. Honestly it's just one of many ways our society is not structured to adequately support caregivers. Disclosure: I am a working remote parent who misses meeting with her team greatly.

I came here to say the same thing! Frankly it’s a great concept and I might use it myself.

I found Johann Hari's book on the subject, "Lost Connections," interesting. It takes a slightly anti-medication stance on tackling depression. On the other hand, a tiny dose of a well-tolerated SSRI medication helped me. That

And, more irksome to me, they don't keep their docs up to date. The beta React docs _still_ don't even document the useEffect hook.

Good timing as I contemplate whether I want to go the Engineering manager vs. Individual contributor route. Being at the Senior engineer level now, I find this resource a nice counterbalance against the abundance of existing material aimed

My dev was asserting that a modest change to how a certain form control works would be "easier in React" (and this is on a piece of our application that's not even in any SPA right now). I marvel over the eagerness with which

As someone who doesn’t feel so enamored with React’s hooks, I find this compelling.

Can you have this on the screen while solving? I think this might have been mentioned at the start but it goes away once I start trying words.

To reconcile this with the parent comment... yes. Crosswalk markings, however bold and bright, alone are insufficient to make an intersection safe for pedestrians.
