For now only still images are supported. These will be checked for availability and if so a reference to them is added in the .tex file. On building the PDF using LaTeX the referenced images will be included.

Any thoughts on the idea of a knowledge dependent content wall (or a CAPTCHA based on a certain domain knowledge)? I feel that a crowdsourced database of questions for various domains could serve some interesting purposes. One idea comes to

This looks like a great option to validate the seed IP's used to connect to the bitcoin p2p network have not been tampered with. As would be possible with a plain text DNS lookup.

Love the positive approach to bringing good coffee to places where people would often settle for less, be it due to time, noise or weight constraints. Any chance you guys are looking for a mechanical engineer to scale up production?

As with all end-to-end encryption it stops at the "end". It is this unencrypted state, in which humans consume data, that can't be defended by crypto. Therefore the only way to be completely safe, is to make sure both you and

That's amazing. I came across your project a while back when you posted it on HN and love the idea. Would be great to see it get some wider adoption and can't wait for version 1.0! Selling is not going to be my intent. I feel this

I like the assumption you make on the transmission factor. One can implement it fairly easily by replacing: imgMasked = np.subtract(imgMasked, lineMask) By the following lines: lineMask = np.subtract(np.ones((height, width)),

Agreed! I think there should be quite some improvement possible for the fine details. I'm playing with some ideas although any help is welcome!

The current implementation is very similar to a hough transform limited to 1 dimension (the angle). Your approach would allow a little more variation and thus a better image. In practice this would however mean one would have to retie the t

If you are looking for an actual spun portrait I would contact Petros Vrellis the artist behind the original idea. A printed version could be made yourself using the script on GitHub https://github.com/theveloped/Thread

The loom was lasercut using the facilities at my uni. I believe however the original artist used a bicycle rim as a base.

Normalizing would most likely only change the order of chosen paths. I do feel there would be something to be gained from penalizing the crossing of light areas. I there say this would increase the quality of finer details.

You most definitely could! While experimenting with it it turned out however that the quality of the image is far more sensitive to the number of pins on the loom. And it is this that quickly escalates your branching factor. Increasing the
