FYI they had that because EV Certs are tied to the official company name, so if you want a more 'colloquial' name, there's a special field called something like 'doing business as'. Then the displayed green bar says

I'm not going to disagree with you on the CA system (I'd have to understand it more), but aside from being a product of CAs, what is the issue with EV? EV's biggest problem is DV certificate: it's hard to communicate the

I personally don't see print media going extinct (books certainly didn't) but I'd hypothesise that availability and convenience is more important than price for the average NYT reader.

I spent a week or two looking into and evaluating micro payments for news, and I share your concerns. The line I hear out of Blendle though is that it's part of an ecosystem, i.e. one avenue of payment options. I can imagine a one-off

Totally agree. The ad-subsidised business model is flawed on so many levels. Personally the biggest one for me is that the evolution of ads moves less away from information and more towards emotional manipulation. Question is - what other m

I presume so. There may be some regulation (or suggested guidelines) about high-trust sites (like banks) that are vulnerable to phishing requiring EVs. Otherwise using the Google Safe Browsing API (as they plan on doing[1]) will probably wo

DV SSL certificates are not effective counter-measures for phishing or scammers. That's one of major advantages of EV certificates. EV SSL (instead of the green lock) appear as the company name in a green bar (see GitHub, Stripe etc).
